Devices attached to computer (Tech Vanity)
June 23, 2008
Posted on 06/23/2008 11:27:00 AM PDT by processing please hold
I'm trying to download a picture of an M-14 I got for my birthday to my hard drive and I keep getting the message: "We've detected several devices attached to your computer, please select the device you want to get images from."
TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: getamac
When I go to get images from my camera it shows E:\. That's the only option that is clickable on the screen. Please help if you can.

Shoot the computer with your M-14 and get a new one.
Just kidding.......
Did you try to unplug the USB port that the camera is attached to, re attach it and let the computer find it?

Shoot the computer with your M-14 and get a new one. It's sweet. Hubby took off from work early and brought it home to me.
Did you try to unplug the USB port that the camera is attached to, re attach it and let the computer find it?
I'll try that now, thanks.

When I did that, this came up : Destinations: 'The feature you are trying to use is an CD-ROM or other removeable disk that is not available.' And beneath that it says: insert the 'Destinations' disk and click ok.
Everything must have gotten changed around when I was making photo montage.

I’ve downloaded literally hundreds of pictures from my memory card that I insert into my (here comes my tech language) little white HP contraption that always immediately posted the pictures to my computer.

This is Windows XP, correct? If so, right click the “My Computer” and choose Manage.
Click on Disc Management. You device may be in there, but has a ‘drive letter’ conflict. You can change the drive letter here, and you’ll be able to access the usb device.

It’s XP. I clicked on ‘my computer’ but it doesn’t have anything that says manage. My Kodak camera is set on E:\.

Well, if all else fails, I guess you could try to do a system recovery to a point when it worked.

You're missing a connector. You need one of these:
Once plugged in and Windows finds the device, just be careful where it's aimed, ok? Happy to help. :)

Ahh the memories. Except for the different flash suppressor it is a reminder of the reliable M-14 I had through most if my Marine enlistment. I do wish I had kept the walnut stock that I had polished to a high shine. I sold the stock to a barracks mate for $25 (a nice piece of change in 73) and turned it in with a standard plastic stock.

Ok. That was a bad move. A very, very bad move, the system restore. It got rid of half my programs I had to do an ‘undo’ to get everything back.

Here's me holding it. I was surprised at the weight of it. With it, he also got me 4 clips. 3-20's and 1-10.

God must truly love me when it comes to computers. I always mess everything up by poking and clicking where I shouldn’t and he comes along and fixes my problems the same way. I couldn’t tell you how I fixed it if my life depended on it.

Reading your thread brings this song to mind:
Well I met her out at Murphy's restaurant
She said she was fresh from the farm
And I remember thinkin' for a country girl
That she went pretty well armed
We sat there talkin' by the lobster tank
I ordered her a slow gin fizz
And when them chicken fried steaks arrived
She said I like living like this
-
-
And I mean this with respect.
To: Deaf Smith
I like that. Sounds like good livin' to me. ;)
FWIW, We're off to the steak house, T-bone, tonight, chicken fried steak for another time. Good livin', my cup runneth over.
And I mean this with respect.
And I took it that way.
