Heinz pulls mayonnaise ad over gay kiss furore
The Times ^ | 06/24/08 | Jenny Booth

A mayonnaise ad that shows two men kissing has been withdrawn from television after 200 viewers complained that it was offensive. Heinz, which makes the New York Deli Mayo featured in the commercial, pulled the advertisement less than a week into its expected five week run, in response to the criticism. Viewers told the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that the ad was inappropriate and unsuitable for children to see. The ASA has not yet decided whether to launch an investigation. snip..... It is understood that the commercial was not shown during children's television programming, because of new rules from Ofcom that restrict ads for products high in fat, salt and sugar.

ahhh= even more offensive: the kids are calling the guy “Mum” and at the end, the guy calls his lover “Sweet Cheeks” = so this is a blatant attempt to push, as normal, children being raised in a homosexual household, where one man is considered the “Mum” = disgusting

So to you, this was an honest, accurate, realistic portrayal of homosexual life.

It never crossed your mind that the advertiser was trying to convey that the deli product is so close to the real thing, that it’s like Mom’s a genuine New York deli guy making lunches in the morning?

Do gays even like Mayo?

I thought they did their activities with relish?

Stopped buying HEINZ products when John F. Kerry, who served in Viet Nam, was trying to steal the Presidental election.

Wrong name. It should have been called San Francisco Deli Mayo. Then the ad would have been appropriate...in Assachusetts and Californication.

Saw the ad on YouTube, had Robert DeNiro in it. Pretty funny.

The point was that when you make a sandwich with that mayo it’s like having a NY deli man behind the counter fixing it. The folks in the household leaving for school/work are addressing the sandwich maker as “mom”. The implication is that it is the wife/mother really behind the counter though the viewers see quintessential New Yorker DeNiro.

Kids & hubby say bye and run out. “Wife” asks hubby for goodbye kiss. Husband kisses him good bye and DeNiro says “come right home, see you later sweetcheeks.” Pretty clever.

Could see why some folks are offended, but definitely did not seem like a pro homosexual ad, and not featuring a gay household. Some people just don’t get the joke.

O.K. we see it from different angles...but I really don't want to see men kissing. If they do so in TV programs or films I can choose not to watch them but when it is ‘in your face’ (as it were) unannounced at advert time....well where's this gonna go in the interest of fun?

Liberals always push the boundaries - oft times beginning with stuff that they can say “hey, wottcha got your knickers in a twist about, it's only fun!”

This ad was Laugh In funny. Unfortunately, this is not 1968 but 2008, and everybody is hyper about gays. There wasn’t anything “gay” about this ad. By using their product, an otherwise-female mom is turned into a genuine deli cook as one would find in New York. I saw it for what it was and thought it genuinely funny.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who got that ad -- and the humor.

I thought it was pretty funny too.

However, I guess reasonable people may differ on this.

It’s probably run on HGTV. Every other “couple” is gay on that network.

I've noticed that too and it's really starting to make me re-evaluate my watching that show.

Another show, House Hunters, is showing way too many gay couples. My little girl walked in the room where HH was in New Orleans. Two female Drs. were looking for a home to buy. She asked me if they were men or women, I told her it was two sisters and they wanted to keep their hair short because they were Drs. and it wouldn't get in their way.

Get this, the Drs. said they were moving to NO to help the poor people, to be closer to those who needed their help. HH took them in a neighborhood and the Drs. said it looked like a dangerous place to live. They wanted nothing to do with that area.

Liberal hypocrisy on parade. Lol

The fools that attempt to perpetrate this sort of garbage on us are so insulated from reality, so caught up in their little elitist worlds, they actually believe the 97% of us who aren’t fags condone and even approve of the 3% who indulge in their perverted, twisted, disgusting activities.

I used to really enjoy some of the home improvement/decorating shows on HG-TV, but now it seems every person on it is just a flaming homosexual. So now I'm watching Ice Road Truckers - much more fun.
