Former "One Day at Time" television star Mackenzie Phillips was arrested on Wednesday morning at Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of drug possession, police said.
Police arrested Phillips, the daughter of The Mamas & the Papas lead singer John Phillips, after she went through airport security screening.
"Following a secondary screening, she was found to be in possession of what appeared to be cocaine and heroin," said Sgt. Jim Holcomb of Los Angeles Airport Police.

Must’ve relapsed. She was a big time druggie when she was doing One Day at A Time, and made some news in the 1980s about how she had beaten her addictions.

Too bad! That heroin addiction is a bad dog. You never loose the urge to use “just one more time”.
I kicked cocaine 25 years ago. THAT was bad enough!
Prayers for MacKenzie.

Sad to see her relapse like that.
I’ve heard that the famous rehab programs that celebrities go to have success rates under 50%. They work for some people, but others just don’t benefit.

She should never have gotten into the car with John Milner in American Graffiti. She should have stayed home and watched TV.
And what really did her in, was actually accepting the piston-shaped gearshift knob that Milner gave her as he finally managed to get rid of her before the big drag race with Bob Falfa (Harrison Ford).
You know, back in the good ol’ days.

I think the example of drug abuse and access to the drugs were provided to her in childhood. It was the norm in that household.
And now at nearly 50 years of age, she is still battling the demons of her father and her childhood. This is a clear example of how family influences children.
I wish her well in her battle.

There’s a lot of pain in her eyes. You’re right. Prayers for her that she can overcome all these things. - She is a pretty woman, naturally slim, good bone structure; but looks can sometimes become a strain to maintain as we age.
In school, I was in all the “beauty” contests, but when I got out of school, I removed myself from that dynamic. I’m in my 60’s now, have put on weight; but I determined a long time ago that I am going to be thankful to the Lord for good food, decent clothing, good shelter and all His blessings and, God willing, I’m going to eat and enjoy all these things without becoming a glutton, and stay as natural as I can while still being clean and neat.
It IS hard to swallow some of the catty remarks from former female “classmates” who seem only too happy when they can comment on someone they graduated with who “looks bad” or “has gotten FAT” or who doesn’t go the vanity route in life. I am only saddened when I see ANY human being who is unwell, seriously ill, or not prosperous. It’s amazing how self-righteous even some in the family can get when they diet and lose a lot of weight or have some “procedure” done. They suddenly get very hostile to the woman who has, in their eyes, “lost their looks”.

I just had to look up who her mother is. A woman named Susan Adams. I don't know what she looks like. You may be referring to Michelle Phillips who is a stepmother. I would have to agree. She is beautiful, and seems to have pulled her life together in adulthood, after leaving the group.
However before posting here I looked up her bio. During the time she was married to John Phillips she says she (they all) used mind altering drugs. She had extramarital affairs, and helped to create a bad environment for the kids that were exposed to the lifestyle. I don't know how many kids there were in the group, but in the bio Michelle says the Mamas and Papas lived a communal lifestyle.
The children would have seen the adults doing drugs, and had access to them. They didn't have any responsible adults in their lives. Kids learn by example.

Doesn’t sound like from what her upbringing was that she standed a chance to be anything but a druggie. Her and dad did drugs together and it just sounds like one big drug party when she was just a little girl. Too bad people bring children into the world with no regard to what harm they are causing them. I pray she pulls her life together and has a happier drug free future.

Apparently I blew that one. I thought Michelle was her mother and Michelle certainly was a beautiful woman. Dizzy as a road lizard, but beautiful. I looked up a recent photo and time has failed to be impressed by her beauty. (I watched a video of Michelle advocating GWB's impeachment.)
Thank you for the correction.
