Joshua 24:15
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

You can be a Christian AND accept evolution.

Translation:

GOD used Evolution to create all we see.

Let's see if there are verses that might shed light on how fast GOD works.....

Isa 48:3 ... I have declared the former things

from the beginning; and they went forth out of My mouth, and I shewed them; I did [them] SUDDENLY, and they came to pass.

Indeed!!

Genesis 1
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3. And God
said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

This is a GOD who creates by speaking; but; how LONG did it take?

Now Jesus was a man who had God-like powers. Was HE God? The Book says so.......

NIV Colossians 1:13-17
13. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
15. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
16. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
17. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

NIV Revelation 4:11
"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."

NIV Revelation 10:6
And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, "There will be no more delay!

Notice that when this man speaks, things happen RIGHT NOW! Not after some times passes and Nature takes it's course.

NIV Matthew 8:2-3
2. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
3. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.

NIV Matthew 21:19
Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.

NIV Mark 1:41-42
41. Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!"
42. Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

NIV Mark 5:41-42
41. He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!").
42. Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.

NIV Mark 10:51-52
51. "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
52. "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

NIV Luke 5:13
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" And Immediately the leprosy left him.

NIV Luke 5:24-25
24. But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . . ." He said to the paralyzed man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."
25. Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.

NIV Luke 8:44
She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and Immediately her bleeding stopped.

NIV Luke 13:12-13
12. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."
13. Then he put his hands on her, and Immediately she straightened up and praised God.

NIV Luke 18:42-43
42. Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."
43. Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

NIV Acts 9:33-35
33. There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years.
34. "Aeneas," Peter said to him, "Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat." Immediately Aeneas got up.
35. All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

NIV Matthew 8:13
Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

NIV Matthew 15:28
Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Now if this same personage, who does things in an instant; how LONG would it take Him to CREATE all that we find around us???

An academic work group proposed that Texas standards for biology courses eliminate the long-held language of teaching students the "strengths and weaknesses" of theories.

The science coalition supports that language change because it says talking of "weaknesses" of evolution allows for religion-based concepts like creationism and intelligent design to enter the instruction. The Texas Freedom Network, an Austin-based group that says it monitors the influence of the religious right, also praises the proposed language change.

Thought control at its finest. Don't teach that there are weaknesses because some kids might question their indoctrination.

It's a thoroughly tested theory supported by mountains of evidence.

And that's all it is.

You clearly need to brush up on your definitions and what science is all about. So here are some from your side.

Theory: A scientifically testable general principle or body of principles offered to explain observed phenomena. In scientific usage, a theory is distinct from a hypothesis (or conjecture) that is proposed to explain previously observed phenomena. For a hypothesis to rise to the level of theory, it must predict the existence of new phenomena that are subsequently observed. A theory can be overturned if new phenomena are observed that directly contradict the theory.[Source]*

When a scientific theory has a long history of being supported by verifiable evidence, it is appropriate to speak about "acceptance" of (not "belief" in) the theory; or we can say that we have "confidence" (not "faith") in the theory. It is the dependence on verifiable data and the capability of testing that distinguish scientific theories from matters of faith.

Proof: A term from logic and mathematics describing an argument from premise to conclusion using strictly logical principles. In mathematics, theorems or propositions are established by logical arguments from a set of axioms, the process of establishing a theorem being called a proof.

The colloquial meaning of "proof" causes lots of problems in physics discussion and is best avoided. Since mathematics is such an important part of physics, the mathematician's meaning of proof should be the only one we use. Also, we often ask students in upper level courses to do proofs of certain theorems of mathematical physics, and we are not asking for experimental demonstration!

So, in a laboratory report, we should not say "We proved Newton's law" Rather say, "Today we demonstrated (or verified) the validity.

* source: http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/site/glossary.html

Teaching something to kids as fact that's only a theory is intellectually dishonest. It's lying to the kids about science, what it is, and how it works.

The sad part is that it has to be done under threat of litigation to the school districts.

I wonder if they're going to correct all the other errors in science textbooks as well. Then again, maybe we don't want them *fixing* the other areas of science either if this is an example of where science is heading in our country.

Our standing in the world of science education stands to plummet even further.

I keep hearing how science must be kept pure from religion and how God must be sterlized out of the discussion, and yet, when you point out science doesn’t and can’t coherently “care” about God one way or another, we always circle back to the disbelief cult as the “only” scientific starting point as if this is the neutral position of science.

Not to mention that those same scientists who claim that determining the existence of God is beyond the purview of science then go on to mock and ridicule faith in that same supernatural that they say they can't determine the existence of.

If it's beyond the scope of science to determine, they have no business dictating that it's not real, that it's not valid, that it's not true, that it's just superstition, or passing value judgments on the believers in any extra natural phenomena.

It certainly calls the scientists objectivity into question when they so decisively make absolute pronouncements about subject areas of which they are admittedly ignorant by self-imposed fiat.

The biggest laugh is the feigned innocence when they are called on their agenda. *We can't make any determination of the supernatural because it's outside the scope of science, you rednecked, knuckle dragging, talabani, believers in bronze age goat herder fairy tales*.

dan: Why can't we get this kind of uprising out of all the errors in science textbooks that are far less controversial than evolution?

soliton: They're teachers, they don't know that there are errors in the books

Great job Einstein. In one short sentence, you've managed to insult every science teacher in this country.

Not only that, even the scientific method requires faith. It requires faith that what we detect with our senses reflects reality. It also requires faith that our universe is governed by laws that are predictable. Modern science certainly didn’t get this faith from atheism or pantheism. They got it from the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Another example thread of the frenzied support and preoccupation the Free Republic Hardcore evolutionists have with Big Government Public School monopoly completely controlled by the far left.

The Free Republic Hardcore Evolutionists carry water for the far left while claiming to be Libertarians. In their most vehement attacks they join the far left as they habitually seek to undermine the moral and philosophical viewpoints of true conservatives.

The dishonest Free Republic hardcore evolutionists are a pack of liars who claim to be for small government due to their uncompromising Libertarianism (a ruse to justify their liberal social and anti-Bible positions) while supporting, boot-licking and even worshipping the worst of all Big Government abusers, the Big Government Public School system run by the far left.

All that because we prefer science taught in science class and religion taught in other venues?

Can you say frothing at the mouth, boys and girls? (I knew you could!)

No, if it were just a matter of preference, then it wouldn't be about lawsuits and monopolizing the public education establishment through the force of big government. If it were preference, I couldn't see why having parents have a say in their child's education using their own tax dollars would be such an issue.

But you knew that already.

exactly...it’s the exact same lie we see from the “pro-choice” crowd. There’s no choice but one choice and that’s abortion.

Having a baby is a choice and when a pro-life person like Sarah Palin makes this “choice” the NARAL, NOW crowd becomes unhinged.

Anybody got a count of the combined rosters of the Creationist web sites?
