Some of the commenters on yesterday's post seem to think that we can ignore concerns about taxes on small businesses because Joe (Samuel?) Wurzelbacher is not a licensed plumber in the state of Ohio.
First, it's not clear to me how it's deceptive to call yourself a plumber when you do plumbing work for a licensed plumbing company, even if you are not the owner of said company. Maybe that's not good enough for the plumbers union to consider you a plumber, but for 95 percent of people, that job description sounds like "plumber."

In Ohio, you can’t even apply for a plumbing license if you don’t have three years experience, so I don’t know what they are complaining about (OK, I do know what they are doing.. distracting from Obama’s Communistic statement..)
Those same “commenters” seem to have no problem with Jose the Plumber who not only doesn’t have a plumber’s license, he doesn’t even have a driver’s license or a green card. Marxist DemocRATS are hypocrites.
If I were Joe, I would ask for Obama’s birth certificate.
I just read on a PUMA board that Joe lost his job and Obama mocked him again! Is this true?

Oh and one more thing, I can’t seem to find any articles Obama published as editor of the Harvard Law Review, or as a Professor at the University of Chicago.
Joe The Plumber didn’t go to a rally and try a gotcha moment. He was standing in front of his house and was in the crowd when Obama was politicking door-to-door. He asked a straight-up question and Obama could have said his usual jive but instead peppered his wonkish stump speech answer with a gratuitous “We want to spread the wealth around” remark.
The hypocritical Democrat media can dig all they want into Joe The Plumber’s background but they simply wouldn’t be talking about him if Obama hadn’t let the horse out of the barn. But this character assasination of Joe The Plumber is going to really piss alot of people off because most people with commonsense and a general understanding of when/where/how this exchange occurred know that it is not what Joe asked (although that resonates) but what candidate Obama actually said.

As far as I’m concerned, anybody who comes to my house when called and can fix a leaky pipe is a plumber.
I don’t care if the only license he has is a fishing license, as long as my pipes work. He’s still a plumber.
The media has now officially dug more into Joe’s past than they have with Barack Obama.
I know his job history, his tax history, his professional licensure status, where he lived before Ohio, his marital status, his approximate income, how many kids he has, his part affiliation, the last election which he voted in.
They have found all this in a few days - but haven’t deemed it necessary to figure out where Obama was born.
...but they don’t get it - its NOT ABOUT a particular Joe, its about the average American who has worked hard for what he has, and his desire to prevent it from being consficated.
If he did get fired and some body can contact him tell him to open up a Paypal account. He will get enough to tide him through this disgrace of a major political party trying to destroy somebody just for asking the question that had Obama falling into his truthful answer.
The Toledo licensng administration stated that they were going to keep him from working as a laborer for a licensed plumber, putting him out of business, but I don’t think he has lost his job. Since Joe doesn’t have his license I don’t think that they can do so legally. Apparently they feel that they should have gotten papers that show he has completed his training and haven’t received them yet. As to why this would be a problem, the law doesn’t appear to say. I think this is nothing more than political harassment. I am not a lawyer, so I don’t really know.
There are some real legal problems for Toledo if they continue to harass this unlicensed laborer, and I would expect Joe can call on some of the finest legal talent in the state to plead his civil and criminal (if necessary) cases.
Obama doesn't have to ask anyone to retaliate against Joe the Plumber -- there are enough petty local officials who will take that intitiative for him. In fact I expect that the firm that Joe works for is going to be on the receiving end of some very close inspections at the hands of the building inspectors in his region of Ohio. Then you have to throw-in all the customers who won't hire his company because he embarrassed the Messiah.
He is an “undocumented” plumber.
I agree. During 2004 there was one member of JFnK’s crew that wouldn’t back him, and went public. He got fired!
