Cute little yorkie! I stayed on here a long time and it was empty so I just got off. The time differences between a lot of us is tremendous. So when I wind down, I wind down. LOL!

Bear In There

by Shel Silverstein

>

There's a Polar Bear
In our Frigidaire—
He likes it ‘cause it's cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
And his big hairy paws
In the buttery dish,
He's nibbling the noodles,
He's munching the rice,
He's slurping the soda,
He's licking the ice.
And he lets out a roar
If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
To know he's in there—
That Polary Bear
In our Fridgitydaire.

LOL! Exactly.

Except I got to stay home today instead of work, so it
wasn’t so bad after all! :D

There’s a certain young lady,
Who's just in her heyday,
And full of all mischief, I ween;
So teasing! so pleasing!
Capricious! delicious!
And you know very well whom I mean.

With an eye dark as night,
Yet than noonday more bright,
Was ever a black eye so keen?
It can thrill with a glance,
With a beam can entrance,
And you know very well whom I mean.

With a stately step — such as
You'd expect in a duchess —
And a brow might distinguish a queen,
With a mighty proud air,
That says “touch me who dare,”
And you know very well whom I mean.

With a toss of the head
That strikes one quite dead,
But a smile to revive one again;
That toss so appalling!
That smile so enthralling!
And you know very well whom I mean.

Confound her! devil take her! —
A cruel heart-breaker —
But hold! see that smile so serene.
God love her! God bless her!
May nothing distress her!
You know very well whom I mean.

Heaven help the adorer
Who happens to bore her,
The lover who wakens her spleen;
But too blest for a sinner
Is he who shall win her,
And you know very well whom I mean.

-- Washington Irving (1783-1859)

Lucky gurl!

I hate Mondays for one main reason. It is trash day. I have (as you know) a very long driveway, and the trash has to be in the container outside the gate before 8am. (If I put it in the recepticle before Monday, the deer, javelina and who knows what else - dumps it over, looking for goodies left over from “Yorkie’s Kitchen”!)

It's Dark in Here

  I am writing these poems
From inside a lion,
And it's rather dark in here.
So please excuse the handwriting
Which may not be too clear.
But this afternoon by the lion's cage
I'm afraid I got too near.
And I'm writing these lines
From inside a lion,
And it's rather dark in here.

Shel Silverstein

Oh, my goodness. I never thought about you having to haul the
container all the way to your gate! Yeesh! Gives you a real
workout, huh?

How is your friend doing?

Well, I keep the bags of trash locked in the garage until Monday morning (for safe keeping). Then I load it into the van, drive it down to the gate, and then take the container outside the gate, and empty my bags into it. It is a major grumpy morning - every Monday, here!

My friend is doing very well - in fact, in just two weeks, it will be six months since her surgery. She still uses a cane, and walks very slow, but, thank God, she now uses the “Big Girl Potty”!

Thanks to God on her behalf that she is slowly but surely
improving!

I can see why Mondays are stinky for you! :D

I’m so sorry I messed up the link to Dolly’s song, but I see that jaycee has given you the post where I corrected it. Hope you got to listen to it. It’s very upbeat - I’m not crazy about a lot of Dolly’s songs, but there are a few I really like. This one, and “I Will Always Love You”, and her version of “I’ll be Home for Chirstmas” is just so pretty.

Loved the poem and, together with the pic, this is a delight!!

Thanks, Dita. Bless her little heart - she's so sad. I loved the poem, too.

The Age of Unbelieveing

We’ve come to an Age of Unbelieving
Where all the magic’s gone out of the world
No more do the Good Folk
Dance in the Hollow Hills
No more the banshee’s song
Echoes lamentatious trills…

All thanks to that fiend Newton
And that dreadful man Voltaire
The Headless Horseman no longer rides-
All Dragons have retreated to their lairs.

In the day and age of Ipods
Of hybrid SUV’s
Of computer graphic systems
With Intel Celeron D
Hi-tech toys every Christmas
Outdated as they’re new
We are lost in an Age of Unbelieving
If things aren’t tangible they can’t be true!
