"One night, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her. After a minute, Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair"
So, which is it? Was she wearing a towel or was she wearing a bathrobe? Should have been easy to tell the difference. Why the discrepancy?
Sounds to me like it's an inflated urban legend, that the sources are leaking like mad and embellishing the story each time. In the next iteration they'll say she came out naked.
I know not too many people like BOR - but he was actually sort of defending her to Carl Cameron - saying things like “well, that explains a lot” - Bill is still hurt that she didn’t come on his show, and I think he chalks it up to mismanagement of the campaign
They have been trying to portray Palin as a 'hick from the sticks' from the start.
Among the Urbane and the Ivy league set, that means toothless banjo pickers straight out of Deliverance.
Effing snobs.
What the 'Country Club Republicans' do not realize is that the folks in the boonies have far more time to read than their urbane cousins--they spend far less of it worrying about impressing the neighbors with superficialities and commuting back and forth to a cubicle job.
That leaves a lot more time for reading and thinking than Big City life, as evidenced by the number of rural states carried by Palin/McCain.
So if they want to throw rural Conservatives under the bus, it is high time to take the gloves off and step out behind the barn and sort some things out. Let's get it done before the next election cycle even starts.
Regardless, this continuing blather tells us one thing.
They are still scared of her--on both sides of the aisle
I HONESTLY WISH THESE POSTS WERE BANNED RIGHT NOW!!!! STOP IT.. STOP IT....Gosh.... let’s let this go and let the poor woman get back to Alaska in PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thinkprogress.org? - get real!
I wouldn't trust him any farther than he could throw a football.
I don’t accept it!!!
She was the best thing to happen to the ticket. But she was trashed with a vitriol that I haven’t seen since the Clarence Thomas nomination. In fact, I think the treatment Palin received was even worse.
Who in God’s name arranged for the Couric interview? And you are damned right that no VP candidate EVER received this kind of scrutiny. Quayle got himself into trouble. I never saw Quayle give a good speech. But this woman was dynamite. Someone should have prepared her for the hostility she was about to unleash.
Lots of people sometimes accidentally say Czechoslovakia when they know all about the Czech Republic.
I believe that she was too popular so they want to completely destroy her so she’ll never even THINK about running again. She’s conservative and articulate and she scares them silly.
Notice how this bit of gossip has morphed from a robe to a towel.
You’re kidding right ? “The One” didn’t know that when capital gains taxes were cut, tax revenue increased. This is two plus two level tax knowledge. He took it in a romp.
Without out her, McCain would have been lucky to win Arizona.
Think of Carl as a parrot. He’s repeating what somebody told him. Somebody with an agenda of their own.
I want to go back to Alaska with her! Please take me, Sarah. Don’t leave me here in Michigan.
Or that she was wearing a bikini, or some such...
It doesn’t matter. Sarah is in a “safe seat” staying Governor of Alaska for this term, and another full term, with Parnell as her L.G. through 2014. A year off, to perhaps write a book, do some touring, help in 2014 elections.
Then she can take on a Senate race in 2016, while still a young 52 years old.
Sarah’s a more likely 2020 spot.
Well, Carl, we just elected a communist with no resume. So now who’s the big dummy? Lets see, war hero and governor of a state the size of Europe versus a guy with the qualifications of a college intern and a guy who thinks FDR was on TV in 1929. And that the US and France drove Hezbollah out of Lebanon together.
This was as close to a public stoning as I have ever witnessed. I lost respect for many lifelong friends for jumping in.
And to Palin’s credit, she cheerfully kept going. Now a friend of mine talks about having a “Palin day” (approaching one’s trials with cheer, confidence and faith)!
jindal is just as good as her if not better, and a rhodes scholar to boot. nominate him in 2012
I think like most things political -it is based on a shard of truth but way over stated by bitter losers.
