During the summer of 1920, Hitler chose the swastika, an ancient symbol historically used by many cultures, to be the Nazi Party emblem. By 1921 he had secured virtually total control of the Nazi Party. During that time Hitler also plotted to overthrow the German Weimar Republic by force. On November 8, 1923, he led an attempt to take over the local Bavarian government in Munich, in an action that became known as the "Beer Hall Putsch."
The coup was ended after a brief gunfight with Munich police. Himmler, Goering and Hess also participated in the putsch. Hitler was arrested and charged with treason. He successfully used the subsequent trial to gain publicity for himself and his ideas. Following his trial, he was sentenced to five years in Landsberg prison, but served only six months.
During his prison term, Hitler began to dictate his thoughts and philosophy to co-conspirator and cellmate Rudolf Hess, which became the book Mein Kampf (My Struggle). It became the blueprint for Hitler's political plans. In Mein Kampf, he contended that Germans should expand east, liquidate the Jews and turn the Slavs into slave labor. Hitler blamed the Jews for Germany's political and economic problems.
While in jail, Hitler realized he would have to take control of Germany by legal means, not through revolution. He increased the size of the Nazi Party, even though the government had banned it. Hitler's Brown Shirts terrorized political opponents on the streets, which discouraged political competition. During that period, Hitler also created the infamous Schutzstaffel (SS), which was initially intended to be Hitler's bodyguard under the leadership of Himmler.
National politics - 1929-1934
The collapse of the American Wall St. stock exchange in October 1929 lent fuel to a worldwide depression, which had hit Germany especially hard. All loans to Germany from foreign countries dried up, German industrial production slumped, and millions became unemployed. Unemployment in Germany had reached 43 percent by the end of 1932.
Those conditions were fertile ground for Hitler and his Nazi campaign. The Nazis became the second largest party in Germany. Hitler also began to win over the support of both the army and the big industrialists, the latter contributing substantially to Nazi Party finances. Both groups hoped Hitler would return Germany to its former pre-World War I status and glory. He assured top army leaders that the Nazis would reject the punitive Versailles Treaty and rearm Germany.
I think most people have seen similiarities. I’m glad someone has compiled them in one place.
Thanks for posting.
For the last 8 years, according to the anti-war crowd, GW Bush was the next Hitler......history was never a strong point for code pink anyway......
What strikes me is that at least Hitler had the courage to fight for his country in WW1 while Obama thought about joining the military before befriending left wing terrorists.
Both are ass clowns,.
You’ve titled the post Hitler V Obama, yet the text of the post is entirely about Hitler. The provided link is also without word of the promised similarities. Maybe you should have titled your post “Hitler”.
I’d have been interested in seeing some analysis on Hitler’s similarities to Obama. Most anyone knows the simple similarities. But if all you’re doing is leaving it for me to draw my own, what good was your post?
That is one thing that I have noticed with the left. They act “jealous” when they perceive that the right is “stealing” their true objectives before they can do them. Always the cynics and always promoters of victimization and “catastrophy” in order to use the catastrophies to further advance their causes.
I question the source and reasoning of/for association.
I deliberately chose not to write a vanity using my own thoughts to compare them. Most people dislike vanities.
As fellow conservatives, I believe each of us can readily think on our own and see the similarities of Obama and Hitler for ourselves. I simply provided a brief historical overview of Hitler’s rise to power from which to draw our own conclusions.
This would not be the case for the leftists amongst us. They would simply act like teenagers and scream, yell, and debase the comparison and the contributors.
That was the first thing that struck me, Obama didn’t join the military.
Of course I still think this had something to do with his citizenship issues. Especially during his college years.
I guess I go under the assumption that those who are ignorant of history are often bound to repeat it.
“That was the first thing that struck me, Obama didnt join the military.”
Or did he? Could one consider his time in the Muslim school in Indonesia as a sort of “military”?
I find it amazing Paulson allowed the final monetary collapse to come just before the election.
Always the cynics and always promoters of victimization and catastrophy in order to use the catastrophies to further advance their causes.
This has always been part of the socialist methodology. It is not new to Obama and our radical left. They cannot provide anything positive or constructive (true validity) so they must use a sick relativism via victimization and crisis to further their perverted pursuit of power.
Keep a real close eye on this “administration” AND THE CONGRESS. You will see and hear plenty of it -— recognize it and those that use it and remember it, write letters to GOOD Congressmen, and make your list for 2010 and 2012.
It seems you are assuming Paulson is the one who had this power. If I recall correctly, Sen. Chuck Schumer was questioned about the timing of his release of info on the first collapse of a big bank which opened the MSM parade of pessimism on all banks.
“I guess I go under the assumption that those who are ignorant of history are often bound to repeat it.”
You may use Santayana for brevity sake.
I’ll start (for convenience, I’ve used the present tense):
Both are fundamentally fascist in their outlook on the interaction between state, capital, labour, and individuals.
Both are psychologically scarred by their abnormal and abusive upbringings.
Both, if Jeremiah Wright is any indication, believe in a master race and are deeply ensconced in issues of race as the key to political mastery.
Both are relatively thin.
Both arguably manipulated economic issues and exacerbated political tensions to ensure their rise to power. Hopefully Zero will be unsuccessful in using these issues to maintain his grip on power.
Both depend upon fear and intimidation of political opponents (e.g., Zero’s numerous lawsuits against people who criticized him during the campaign).
On the other hand, there are important differences. For example, Zero smokes and appears to eat meat. Thank goodness we don’t have a vegetarian in the WH.
Feel free to chime in with others.
Fair enough, FRiend.
Posting crazy Internet chain email like this might lead people to think you need to see a shrink. You can do better.
Obama stated that he is going to change the world, but first he has to change this country. I believe he is more of an International Socialist like Stalin than a National Socialist like Hitler.
I’m sorry, I see no comparison at all. And I consider myself a conservative who is able to think, and draw his conclusions, on his own.
I have never seen/read/heard of Obama wanting to exterminate anyone. Other similarities or comparisons are merely attempts to make oneself feel better about him/herself.
As for having served in the military as being a determining factor for leading us (I’m an active duty Navy Senior Chief currently in Iraq)...that’s hardly the case. Few presidents in recent history served actively. Fewer still in times of war. And, still fewer who served are in Congress and/or the Senate.
The “right” howls when Bush, or any other “conservative” is compared to Hitler, Stalin, or any other lunatic from the past by the “left”. Why should we, those same “conservatives” feel we have the right to draw such comparisons? Sorry...I just don’t see them. Just my two cents, all are free to think/feel and draw their own conclusions. Those of us in uniform do our best to see to that. Stay safe. God Bless...
