Add me to the ping list please!
Her attire choices so far are telling me she isn't really down with the whole First Lady thing at all.
You are added, Swede Girl! :-)
Please add me to your list. It will be interesting to watch her for the next 4 years. And, again, thanks for posting this.

Proper decorum would dictact a long sleeve suit or something similiar to what she wore yesterday to the inauguration. In addition, she needs a coordinating hat
And every time I see that woman, I want to put my knee into the center of her back and pull her shoulders back. Her posture is horrible and she will have a permanent hump by the time she is 50 if she keeps it up. She is already round-shouldered and the hump comes next.
I'd read on a thread last night that Bambi kept stepping on her gown. After seeing this full-length picture, I can understand why. It's way too long. They must have used a King-sized Chenille bedspread.
I’m with you on the simple straight dresses and suits in jewel tones. She does strong line and color well. Needs something to downplay the hips and thighs.
She doesn’t do ‘feminine’ well. Last nights bedspread and today’s church frock were wrong choices! They go against type.
Please add me to the ping list... with her taste in clothes this is going to be fun to watch
InStyle magazine Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein appreciates Obama's straightforward approach to fashion.
"People tend to think classic looks are synonymous with boring, but they're not," he explains. "Michelle Obama has a specific style that works for her. She has a lady-like approach to style that is elegant and inspiring.GAG
"What we'll see as a result is this idea of looking put-together and sophisticated, as opposed to being daring or flamboyant. It's all about looking polished, like you know what you're doing."
You are added, Amanda King! :-)
I’m not getting any work done this afternoon! :-)
I'm thinking of wearing those drapes to the next formal dinner, Laura.
You are added, DieNarrin! :-)
Bill: "Hey, Michelle! Didn't you get the memo we were goin' to church?"
It reminds me of a scene from the series Rome, at a party where someone comments to Atia of the Julii how pretty her daughter Octavia looks, and Atia says “Well, I try, but she WILL slouch.”
Well she does...sort of.
More than you ever wanted to know here: Mrs. O blog. (Please note, this blog is posted by an advertising agency.)
Venus and Serena got their overbites taken care of. They’ve really improved their appearances over the years.
Daggone it, I gotta give Janet Reno some credit. That is a smashing ensemble on her. Quite appropriate and somewhat flattering to her figure. I would recommend some color up by her face, but all in all, yeah, that works quite well for her
I’m certainly no fahionista.
However, I am convinced that her attire is entirely geared toward making her monsterous rear end look smaller.
But that is just my untrained hetero male opinion.
LOL Good one
“LOL, whod a thought that Janet Reno could out fashion MO?”
Not me... but darn she sure did!
news to me!
she should be fired.
Do you think if we appealed to Oprah, she could intervene? I mean, I know Oprah hasn’t always made the best fashion decisions, but she could at least approach her....
Isn’t it scary how all the so-called fashion magazines and commentaries are all saying how wonderful, fresh, and feminine she is?
There was a Twilight Zone episode where everyone was afraid to make a little boy mad (Billy Mumy) or he would send them to “the corn field”...they were afraid to even THINK anything bad for fear of what he would do.....I think to even think anything negative about Zero and 1st Frump is risking being called a racist and the possibility that they may get audited....
First it was the drapes for the afternoon, then she wore the chenille bedspread for the inaugural balls!
And offline, I’m far from perfect either, however, the liberal media was vicious with the Bush family so it’s my turn now to be the bitter drag queenesque acting complainer..... ;^)
Ikram Goldman, style maven of Chicago.
Time to look beyond a Chicago boutique owner for inspiration and help.
Why? Dresses aren’t appropriate for church?
As an aside, just a personal thought, she has to walk a thin line in her position. Not only will she need to highlight American designers, but there are ethnic considerations, as well. Trying to look “chic” as we have been accustomed to, would tend to bring criticism down on her head with some REALLY devastating epithets. I can think of two right off the top of my head.
You are added, Neverforget01! :-)
Oh...please add me the list. Thanks!
... if not a suit, a nice dress/jacket. Of course, Hillary is wearing a pantsuit which at one time would have been verbotin in the National Cathedral, or any place of worship.
The one truly attractive outfit Ms. Obama has worn through the inaugural festivities was to the concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. Everything else has been wretched.
Someone needs to get her a fashion advisor. She is now FLOTUS and can’t wear ‘just anything’ as she did before.
Poor Michele, maybe she doesn't shop and orders her clothes from catalogs and is too lazy to send back what doesn't fit.
I can't believe having worked in a prestigious law firm that she doesn't know what is appropriate to wear. Yesterday her daughters were dressed like little ladies and looked darling... Which tells me she knows but doesn't care and doesn't want to look too much like white establishment. I agree with the comment the dress looks like a summer dress to wear to a garden party.
You are added, avalonmistmoon! :-)
You are added, okokie! :-)
He was probably wearing a bulletproof vest that made his suit look goofy in the back.
Please ping me. Thank you.
No, as I posted on another thread, that her dress is made from the dining room curtains I threw out when I moved into the lastest house. True! Wish I had saved a picture of them.
You are added, OLDCU! :-)
I’m reluctant to rag on Michelle, because she obviously has multiple problems with fashion related to her build. Plus she simply has no grace.
She looked best by far in the simple, long sleeved, solid color dresses and suits she wore on occasion during the campaign. She could learn to keep her shoulders back and perfect her lumbering walk with arms swinging.
I have a feeling she also enjoys good food and I can relate to that. She’ll never be model skinny and that’s a good thing.
Both she and Obama are much better looking when they smile.
Now that I have read through the thread, I have to say I agree with all the others who commented upon her posture. Proper posture in and of itself would improve just about anything she were to wear. She is not an unattractive woman, she just happens to be big and her poor posture only emphasizes rather than diminishes her size.
Please add me to your list!!!!
Oh I didn’t say he didn’t love her, but look at some of the pictures a little closer and the look he gives her it’s quite apparent he’s pissed.
