Repeatedly, FR moderators have moved TOP postings related to current NEWS and calls for conservative ACTIVISM from the News and Activism section, over to "blogger's and personal" which has no traffic by comparison.
I fully understand Jim Robinson's original purpose in launching FR, to provide a community in which conservatives could get TRUTH not available in the MSM, information not available in the MSM and access to fellow conservatives so that we could work together towards a conservative agenda.
Yet time after time, FR moderators bury this information over in "blogger's and personal" and kill story after story, vital to the conservative movement.
Without a change in this policy, I am through posting to FR. The moderators on FR have less sense than the moderators on DU, where they at least work to bury the opposition, instead of themselves.
What gives? Anyone understand this self-defeating policy?
In your email box direct from Debka...
Good grief man. You are wrapped way too tight.
I didn’t leave anything out, did I? I mean, I was thinking of throwing maybe “neocon” or “bushbot” in there but it might have been overkill...
If you want to help traffic, throw in something about the Confederate Flag, Obama’s Birth Certificate, and Scantly Clad Models.
“How many of you are FR moderators?”
Sorry. That’s classified. We can’t tell you.
A long time fan... I have been posting his work here for years.
Agreed, brevity is the soul of wit.
Althought a CZJ picture would have been nice.
“a documented news agency”
You don’t even realize the insane implication of your statement, do you? LOL
This is the point of my original question. Since the MSS (read: documented news agencies) don’t publish conservative truth in the “legitimate” news, what are the odds of complying with this nutty FR policy in order to get conservative news in the news section of FR?
..and as you can see, they all aren’t moved to ‘bloggers’. At that, most I linked to are still news. It seems the only difference (as most others here have pointed out) is if it is an opinion piece versus NEWs. Don’t take it so personally.. put yourself in a mod’s shoes.. in addition to all the trolls, dealing with folks like me who are constantly smarting off and starting fights, and trying to organize the thousands of posts coming in, I really doubt they have time to sit there and search for your posts and move them to bloggers.. they probably just try to see, is this an opinion piece, is this actually news? If not, it is moved..
Agreed. But hits mean nothing. I post new threads often. And - to me - replies are the key to determining if a post was good enough.
As I said - JB Williams is a good man. But the fact he is in the CFP makes no difference. He could have been sourced to the NY Times, the AP, the Washington Post or anywhere else you can think of.
But today's column was a yawner. Still hardly any replies in either of the two afore-mentioned threads.
So don't blame the mods. They could have bumped this snooze-fest to Breaking News for you. Still wouldn't have helped.
You're getting a real butt-beating today on Free Republic. Take it. Learn from it. It's happened to me. Hell, its happened to most any and all FReepers with any experience.
Tomorrow will be another day. And you'll be back (with another JB Williams column) and we will all live to FReep another day.
I'll stop getting sentimental now. Take care, FRiend.
I wanted a direct honest answer for the logic in the policy. After hundreds of rude posts, still not one has been offered. That explains a lot, huh?
I demand satisfaction!
I must add my voice to your call for a reckoning, suh.
This won't do. This won't do at all.
You have the “psycho” part right...
This is a HUGE forum. There are thousands of readers and posters. Sometimes, we post a thread that's just not interesting. Nobody wants to read it, so it doesn't get read. I've had this experience myself.
I have NO idea who this JB Williams guy is, or what the Canada Press is, and I'm familiar with a LOT of conservative news sources.
Ya gotta advertise. Put a bio of JB Williams on your FR home page. Put a description of Canada Press on your home page, and a link. Pump them up. Let us know why we should be reading them.
Check out my FR home page. I've started linking to conservative commentators who I feel deserve a read or a nod. Notice how I introduce them.
Anyway, fellow Freeper - smile! You just waded through the Mother of All Flaming. Your Kevlar suit appears to be intact, but you'll get some ribbing over this one.
Think of it this way - your Freeper hide is now lots thicker. :-)
I'll be checking your home page in a week or so. I want to see some action.
Vanities about new socks are not boring and belong in the Breaking News section.
Thank you very much!
No, I didn’t take it personal at all. As I have stated on this thread, there is a pattern of moving conservative news from conservative news sites (not the MSM) to bloggers, where there is much less traffic. If the objective is to spread conservative news, views and values, why would they be moved where there is much less traffic?
It was a simple question, for which no one has offered a direct answer in over a hundred comments...
Maybe you ought to stop it with the rude posts, eh?
OK, already putz, go cry somewhere else. I fart in your general direction.
The above is not news either, it is opinion. Your difficulty here appears to be your opinion that opinions are news (with a strong dose of "I know what's best" thrown in for good measure).
Hey 1rudeboy...they have moved some of the birth certificate postings...out of breaking news. They had some kind of reason, but I don’t remember what it was...senior moment.
Seriously, it’s a simple question. Why can’t anyone answer it?
Why move conservative news and acts of activism where it gets much less traffic, if the objective is to spread conservative news, views and opportunities to act?
On this basis, compared to the many childish attacks that question has drawn on this thread, you think it’s me who needs a shaking?
What I heard, was that Jessica Alba was talking smack about the Confederate battle flag on Catherine Zeta Jones' H3
Yes, that's the VERY SAME Hummer H3 that the lovely Ms. Jones used to run over a copy of Obama's phony "Certificate of Live Birth", to show how she felt about the natural-bornn citizen issue...
Also, hope all is well with you. I am hanging on to my job by my fingernails...will know Friday.
Hey! I know you two. You’re gonna hijack this opus thread, now aren’t ya?
Don’t make me call the mods now!
I haven’t seen that pattern. It could simply be that we are more inclined to post from Conservative sources, thus, naturally more will be moved to bloggers by numbers alone.
Here is the recent ‘bloggers’ list:
Here is the recent ‘news’ list:
Both seem to have a decent mix of MSM and non-traditional.
You even think that maybe this is your own little Rorschach test? You are very concerned about censorship of Conservative news, so you see it happening everywhere, even if it doesn’t exist? Our minds are programmed to create patterns. Remember the last new car you bought, as soon as you drove off the lot suddenly you saw the exact same model everywhere?
Thanks for the very decent answer.
Don ‘t go into somebody else’s living room and spit on the floor; go home to spit!
Maybe they posted it in the blogger section first.
I got suspended for a week for asking once.
And yes, I do realize the implications.
I don't think you realize the implications of YOUR stance.
The moderators of this site are not paid one thin dime.
Do you REALLY expect them to fully read each post and determine its newsworthyness?
If it came from a blog, it will normally go in bloggers and personal, not news and activism.
If you deem it "newsworthy" maybe you should help the mods out and contact them to let them know.
It ain't hard, a little ping to the admin mod, and it ain't rocket science, if you can post it surely you can let the mod know why you think it's newsworthy.
I stand corrected.
Yeah, I messed up a post...I was posting a reply and posted the entire article instead of excerpting it... I know better. The mod deleted it... I don’t blame him/her. I was embarrassed-rookie mistake. The mods must get really sick of this. I merely put it back up done the right way.
Good luck. I’m not doing so hot, either, but I can still afford beer . . . and on the bright side I don’t have a house to lose or car to be repossessed.
As has been posted here on your thread several times it doesn’t matter under which topic the article is posted if the reader has clicked the EVERYTHING...it is mine and a lot of others SOP...you are being taunted as a child and reacting like a child. And the answer to your title is..Oh hell NO!!!
Stuff published on web and chat sites, and blog sites and individual web sites gets allocated to that category.
This site has been active for over a decade. Systems and conventions have developed and evolved based on broad usage habits of the membership.
Keep in mind that we started mainly as a forum exposing the corruption of the Clinton era and a national press that was spinning to support him. During that tracking it became apparent that certain journalists needed careful tracking and that certain media changed breaking news accounts to fit a political agenda. It therefore became very important to track the history of how national stories were written — all to track and stop the Clinon corruption.
To keep that channel clear, opinion comments, vanity postings and general chat had to be relegated to seperate sub-forums as there were solid contributing members that relentlessly tracked the media.
In recent years people have seen this site as a general activism bulletin board — something that wasn’t its original base in its growth. I know because eduacational and general conservative discussion is what always interested me the most as well. I learned however that it wasn’t my site, it was Jim’s and it would hold the character he desired. People that can’t deal with its character are welcomed to create or advance other websites. Its a healthy thing for the spread of conservative activism.
Just because it doesn’t seem to function as you might prefer doesn’t mean it is not functioning as other’s are comfortable with.
I know it seems to have died down, but just to give you a perspective and possible explanation from another FReeper, most of us read articles by displaying all recent articles, no matter if it is a news article, blogger, backroom, whatever (the link posted above with the * in it)... Let's say, for example, you post it in news and it receives 200 hits, it is then moved to bloggers and only receives 10 more hits. It may be that there are only 210 FReepers on line, they all glanced at it, but didn't reply. After those folks looked at it, they didn't go back, thus the drop off in hits.. it has nothing to do with it being moved, there just weren't any more people on line looking at articles.. How many articles in which you aren't interested in, do you keep visiting over and over? Just another view for you.
Thanks for the great comments...
I have no blog to promote, I do not represent Williams or CFP. I’m just a conservative who is fast running out of places to post conservative news and events.
The column, like most I have posted here over the years, was being read VERY well, until it was moved to Bloggers where it immediately died, like all other pieces I have seen moved from News to Bloggers.
If all conservative writers are just bloggers because the MSM won’t print their column, and nobody reads bloggers, what’s the point of posting?
Clearly, rather than answering this question, many Freepers needed an opportunity to scorch a fellow conservative today.
Glad to provide the much needed entertainment, but I have much better things to do with my time.
A little pot calling the kettle black, huh?
You’re the one whining, sissy boy.
There's always room for Catherine and it will pump up the hit counter for PlainOle.
Raise 200k and start your own.
How dare you suh....sully the name of Robert E Lee- a Southern patriot...this is my Bronx version of Southern outrage...what do you think?
