Subject: 200,000 Gay Protestors to Disrupt General Conference
I was speaking with a good friend today who's dad works for the Salt Lake City Police Department. My friend asked him how things were going for him at work and he said that he'd been putting in extra hours doing riot control training. He asked what on earth were they doing that for, and he told him that the entire police force was going through an additional 10 hours of mandatory riot control training because the city is bracing for an influx of 10,000 to 200,000 Gay protesters that want to disrupt this coming General Conference.
I asked how does your dad know how many people will be showing up. He said that the protest permits had already been applied for and that the police in doing a little intelligence gathering off of the groups websites, found out that they are "strenuously striving" to get as many people there as possible. The 200,000 number is the goal that they want to have on Conference weekend.
But what really worries the police are that the gay protest groups have aligned themselves with a couple of anarchist groups who make it their goal in life to cause as much trouble as possible. These are the groups that show up at protests and you have anarchists running through the streets throwing bricks, Molotov Cocktails, and what not, breaking windows, burning cars and businesses, and attacking innocent citizens and by standers. Their only goal is to provoke a reaction from the police and the citizenry. Can you imagine this going on while Church members are standing in line waiting to enter the Conference Center? His dad further said that the Salt Lake Police in discussing what happened in California with the police there were informed of some of the inflammatory tactics that the gay protesters used down there including ripping up Bibles and Book of Mormons, having people parade around wearing only temple garments or wearing them in combination with drag queen clothing. Anyways, the police are planning on canceling all leave to have every officer on hand for the conference, and depending on how many people start showing up and call in the Utah National Guard. Unless something unforeseen happens this is shaping up to be a major event for the police, the Church, and all major news broadcasters.
That will dampen future protests.
First off, I doubt they can muster 200,00 people. Second off, I think it is funny how they want to target the Mormons for Prop 8 passing. Like mentioned before, what about the blacks from the hood and the hispanics who have family values? Nope, the Mormons will do since they won’t pop some caps in their sodomite a$$es.
What do they hope to accomplish? I don’t intend to start any Mormonism vs. Christianity debates here, but let me just say - liberals often just don’t seem to understand that Christians really believe the things they say. Christians get actually tortured all over the world today rather than deny their savior. They aren’t going to change their views on homosexuality if 10,000 protesters show up to yell at them, or 10,000,000.
200,000! May I call BS on that. Nowhere near that number will show up.
That good old liberal “tolerance” rears its ugly head...
I agree with no way there was 200,000 people there.
LDS has been stauncher than most in opposing the queers’ goals for America and the verts think they can wreck the LDS Church the way the Civil Rights people etc wrecked the segregation policies in the 60s.
We need Obama signs to hand out to the protesters. The more the merrier and the more we can hang around the neck of Obama.
How many of these "people" showed up when President ArmAndNutsJob gave his little speech about no homosexuals in Iran (because they all got hung on construction cranes)?
Crickets - (chirp... chirp)
A thousand would surprise me.
And probably every one of those Mormons is armed to the teeth. This should be interesting.
The media will hype those thousand until the average viewer thinks it’s a million. The media could make 200 look like 200,000.
Someone from the Mormon church or those who are just plain tired of the bullying tactics of the so-called “homosexual rights movement” needs to be there, videotaping any and all protesters who show up. Get those bullies on tape, harassing old ladies, assaulting men with their families, yelling at and scaring children and other acts of violence. The world needs to see these “ever-loving, tolerant” bigots in action, stripped of the media-manufactured facade of them being harmless victims. Let the world see them, harassing people who are exercising their Constitutional right to peaceable assemble and right to religion and how these hateful, lawless ones treat those with whom they disagree.
Pictures turned the world against the bigots in this country who sought to suppress the civil rights of Blacks. Pictures need to be used to do the same against these bigots who wish to suppress the civil rights of the religious who worship in peace.
Remeber the crazy lunatic radical feminst who protested the golf tournmanet?
The media prepared for THOUSANDS of ugly feminist protesters.
TEN, just ten showed up.
And that many 19th-century LDS leaders regularly reviled monogamy.
(That might have a wee calming influence on them)
Yeah, I know you and your buddies can’t pass up a chance to bash Mormons, but I would not like it the homos were protesting your church or home, and I would look past my petty disagreements with your beliefs.
It won’t make a difference. Entire generations have been brainwashed into fanatical leftist zeal.
But this, of course, would never be considered "hate speech" or "inciting [others] to riot", now would it? No, that is only what Christians can be said to be doing when they protest homos and their ilk.
It only works one way, you see. We need to find a way to turn this around; calling it what it is (one-way allowance for hate speech and censorship the other way) is not working, as the homos have the media on their side.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Its way to cold in Salt Lake this time of year for assless chaps and wife beater tee shirts.
I don’t expect anyone to attend......
That is funny, but I don’t like the visual.
It wouldn’t hurt to try.

What’s a couple of orders of magnitude between friends?
SMARTEST POST SO FAR. WORTH PUTTING IN BOLD. KUDOS!
What are the dates of this conference?
Hanged. They were hanged on construction cranes.
They all think they're hung, but that's another subject.
They will 5, 10 thousand tops.
Of course not! How many of them do you think are getting some type of government aid?!
are there even 200,000 sodomites in America?
Funny thing...> 200k showed up on the Mall on 1/22 and the MSM was ...SILENT
make sure every one holds a video camera, this battle will be won through the media or lost through it.
The gatling gun remains one of the best riot control devices ever invented.
You know when the gays are chasing down the mormons for having backed “traditional marriage” thats what I call irony.
“The media will hype those thousand until the average viewer thinks its a million. The media could make 200 look like 200,000.”
And note that the protest in Denver got zero play by the major media outlets. Conservative protests never do. Hear about the million people who protested for traditional marriage in Spain when they tried to ram gay marriage through? Didn’t think so.
Nobody likes a know-it-all. Tell me, do you have any friends?
Yeah, I do, but they don't think I'm a know-it-all.
Really? Are you aware that plural marriages ended before slavery did? Nice comment though. I guess you don’t value traditional marriage very much, or you might have a teeny weeny inclination to stick up for those who do and actually do something about it.
Oh Lord, let their aim be true, and let between 10,000 to 200,000 unrepentant sinners, who have had more than enough time and people pleading with them to change, fall and not rise again.
The Mormons could be doing us a tremendous favor here if it turns out to be their worst case scenario. I just wouldn’t want to have to touch the bodily fluids.
And that guy standing behind them holding up the sign that stated "Iron My Shirt". LOL.
Nice historical revisionism, freeplancer. (Is this what your Mormon leaders have taught you?) Here, let me provide a proper historical rundown of the period between 1856 and 1910:
1856-1865: The Republican party highlights the defeat of polygamy to be a key plank in its first national platform, characterizing it alongside slavery as one of the "twin relics of barbarism".
Lincoln issued two emancipation proclamation orders in 1862 and 1863, and by July, 1865, 4 million slaves had been set free. The 13th amendment was passed by Dec. of 1865, thereby killing off whatever institutional vestige of slavery.
On the other hand, emancipation for mainstream LDS plural wives came only via death or institutionally ended in the 20th century (& even then it continued thru the LDS "step-daughters", the fLDS).
1899: Mormon congressman B.H. Roberts was voted into office by Mormon Utah but denied his seat because he had taken yet another plural wife after the Mormon "prophet" had supposedly called a halt to the practice earlier that decade.
Guess what happened that year to ensure Roberts wasn't seated? A petition of 7 million citizen signatures was delivered to Congress...covering 28 rolls each two feet in diameter and encased in an American flag. This is 1899, freeplancer...we didn't have even 100-signature petitions being delivered to Congress in 1899 about slavery.
1890-1910: Specifically 220 Mormon men are named by author B. Carmon Hardy (a descendent of one of these men) who took an additional wife between 1890 and 1910. The overwhelming majority of them were not "convicted and sentenced" for their crimes.
And what about the period before plural marriage was publicly (but not privately) called to a halt by Mormon leadership -- the period after slaves were set free?
1865-1890: Hardy, in his book: A Solemn Covenant: The Mormon Polygamous Passage, references how at its late 19th century peak, Mormonism was practiced by 20 to 30% of its membership. (What? Are you trying to claim that 20-30% or more of the South still owned slaves in the late 19th century?)
Yikes - seen this yet?

Why do they need to “work”?
Or, rather, this IS work. What do you think the $4 billion in the Porkulus Bill was for? ACORN has 175,000 members. How long can 175,000 people live on $4 billion? For some time, I think.
I don’t read your tripe because it has foam all over it from your mouth. Here is a fact for you; the LDS church stopped plural marriage in 1890 (look it up). It is a fact that the last “known” black slaves were discovered in 1902. Look it up and have a nice day if you can.
that was a different protest.
This was a protest that was so small it was shades of the cindy sheehan picture of her surrounded by reporters.
The DBM tried to fluff up the protest by saying it was a “national attention” protest.
200,000 is a big cluster.
