Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

April 1, 2009
Servant-Friendship
We were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. —1 Thessalonians 2:7

Don Tack wanted to know what life was like for homeless people. So he concealed his identity and went to live on the streets of his city. He found out that food and shelter were offered by many organizations. At one shelter he could spend the night if he listened to a sermon beforehand. He appreciated the guest speaker’s message and wanted to talk with him afterward. But as Don reached out to shake the man’s hand and asked if he could talk with him, the speaker walked right past him as if he didn’t exist.

Don learned that what was missing most in ministry to the homeless in his area were people who were willing to build relationships. So he began an organization called Servants Center to offer help through friendship.

What Don encountered at the shelter was the opposite of what the people who heard the apostle Paul experienced. When he shared the gospel, he gave himself too. He testified in his letter to the Thessalonians, “We were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us” (1 Thess. 2:8). He said, “We were gentle among you,” like a mother (v.7).

In our service for the Lord, do we share not just our words or money but our time and friendship?

I want to do service for Christ while I live,
And comfort and cheer to poor lonely hearts give;
For this is the program approved by the Word,
To visit the needy and speak of the Lord. —Bosch

One measure of our likeness to Christ is our sensitivity to the suffering of others.

Thank you for re-posting ODB, Mayor. It is the perfect way to start our day.

I’m sorry that I failed to get the new thread up last night.

I’m on my way for a big juicy hamburger with tater tots.

Would you believe, I was just at the grocery store and bought the makings for hamburgers and tater tots (for tomorrow's dinner)? My husband loves those things!

Gosh, I don’t know. Can you send me a link to it? My son has been posting on the Central Valley Tea Party discussion board, but I know if he has been posting on the 47 site or not.

April Fool’s Day

The first of April, some do say, Is set apart for All Fools’ Day. But why the people call it so, Nor I, nor they themselves do know. But on this day are people sent On purpose for pure merriment.

Foolish Questions

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

If the professor on Gilligan’s Island can make a radio out of coconut, why can’t he fix a hole in a boat?

Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, “I think I’ll squeeze these dangly things here,
and drink whatever comes out”?

Why is it that when someone tells you that there are over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure?

If a turtle doesn’t have a shell, is he homeless or naked?

Why do they lock gas station restrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?

If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?

How much deeper would oceans be if sponges didn’t live there?

Real Fools
A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas Kwik Shop and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

If quitters never win, and winners never quit, what fool came up with “quit while you’re ahead”?

Would you believe that I can’t find that link again?

That’s what happens when you start following links; you can never find your way back.

Is his middle initial P.? (I think that is what I remember). It was probably the Central Valley Tea Party discussion board. Do you have that link?

I love homemade hamburgers better than the fast foods but these were good today. I saved some tater tots because I was full, so I just warmed them for a snack! Good!

Great minds...you know!

Yes, his middle initial is P and that is where you saw him, on the discussion board. He can’t make it to the Tea Party, it’s too far to drive, be he is posting some interesting food for thought on the message board.

Yes, Yorkie is here!
But she has been waiting by the door
All gussied up like a Princess
You see, the "Joker" asked her for a 'date' tonight
But, so far he hasn't shown up.
No one had the heart to tell her....
April Fools!
