Traffic Cone Monster Has Artist In A Jam

RALEIGH, N.C. -- When Joseph Carnevale chopped up three stolen orange and white traffic barrels from a construction site to create a massive sculpture of a roadside monster thumbing a ride, the North Carolina college student said he saw it as a form of street art.

Police just saw vandalism.

They dismantled the 10-foot "barrel monster" and arrested Carnevale. Hundreds of online supporters want the charges dropped and the publicity has turned the history major and part-time construction worker into a local celebrity.

Even the construction company has become a fan, and wants the 21-year-old to create a replica of the figure that led to his arrest on June 10.

I guess I feel irritated over stuff like this. I have come to the point in my life if it isn’t mine, I don’t touch it or mess with it. I HATE graffiti, and this just sounded like it to me. I don’t think I will lose any sleep over it.

Ahhhh, now I get....it's all the cops fault. Mean ol' cops thinking this "artist" stole and vandalized someone else's property.

The owner of the property did not consider anything stolen or vandalized and in fact stated publicly that they were 'delighted'.

Identify the victim in this alleged 'criminal act' which allowed those cops to file some cheap and lazy misdemeanor charges that will be tossed out?

Those are North Carolina taxpayer dollars they're wasting.

If someone steals something from me and it is recovered, but damaged and I decline to press charges against the person, shouldn't that be the end of it and the police halt with any further activity on the matter?

Who filed a complaint alleging a crime was committed? What a person says is one thing, determining the actual evidence of a crime is another. Bottom line: was a complaint ever filed by any of the past or present 'victims'?

That isn't name calling, that was identifying your liberal behavior which you put on display when you lied in your post #42, when you said that I "hate cops", when I said no such thing, nor did I even suggest it. Heck, if I had an old truck I'd be running those damn things over just for the heck of it considering all the road construction we have going on here in S.E. Michigan ALL YEAR LONG!

No problem, I won't either. I live in S.E. Michigan and we have nothing but road construction going on non-stop, all year long, year after year after year........I see these damn barrels every day of my life!

To see some guy actually use these damn barrels (he should have come up here and picked up the ones hit by vehicles)and create figures out of them, well, I think its pretty darn cool!

If I had his talent or if he was working for me, we could make a fortune out of that barrel art. I can just see those barrel figures with signs hung over their necks saying "Slow Down" or "Road Construction Ahead".......the opportunity is endless.........
