South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford carried on a lively e-mail exchange with his lover in Buenos Aires, praising her "gentle kisses," her tan lines and the "curve of your hips," according to copies of the e-mails given to McClatchy's The State newspaper.
The newspaper posted excerpts on its Web site, after removing the woman's full name and other personal details, including her street address, e-mail address and children's names.
In the e-mails, Sanford recounted his schedule, including a meeting with Sen. John McCain, then the Republican nominee for president. In that e-mail, Sanford told his lover, who The State identified only as "Maria," that the visit had sparked discussion of Sanford as a possible vice presidential candidate.
He also hinted at the emotional struggle his sexual relationship with the woman was causing him. "This is ground I have never certainly never covered before - so if you have pearls of wisdom on how we figure all this out please let me know," Sanford wrote. "In the meantime please sleep soundly knowing that despite the best efforts of my head my heart cries out for you, your voice, your body, the touch of your lips, the touch of your finger tips and an even deeper connection to your soul."

Youve got to wonder if theres any room for climate sanity left in governance and politics if a man recognized as one of the most conservative governors in America has bought into global warming alarmism. Thats what has happened with Gov. Mark Sanford in South Carolina, who last year created the Climate, Energy, and Commerce Advisory Committee to gin up some plans (extracted from the ideas of the Center for Climate Strategies) to cut down on carbon emissions in the state. You might think that Sanford did so as a political nod to the environmentalists in his state, but his executive order (PDF) that created CECAC reflected a passionate tone:
For the last twenty years of my life, I have seen the ever-so-gradual effects of rising ocean levels at our farm in Beaufort County. In some cases, its been watching pine trees die in that fragile zone between uplands and salt marsh; in other cases its meant finding roots in areas that would never grow a tree, given the current salt water levels. While I understand very clearly the debate on whether or not these events come as a result of mans activity or just the effects of nature taking its course - Ive had other personal experiences that strongly suggest to me that man is having an impact on the environment. The last time I was in Beijing on a trade trip, we happened to be there on a bad smog day. When I went outside I could see no more than a quarter of a mile and my eyes watered.

No, MEN cause themselves to do whacky things.
Sanford conducted a “World Wind” presidential campaign.
Sounds like Miss Argentine was in a serious relationship too. This ain’t the exclusive territory of men.
Just another jerk letting his one-eyed trouser worm do his thinking for him. Why people risk losing everything over a simple piece of a$$ is beyond me.
What a fool....
“Stay away from her! Dont go near the door of her house! If you do, you will lose your honor and will lose to merciless people all you have achieved. Strangers will consume your wealth, and someone else will enjoy the fruit of your labor. In the end you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body. You will say, ‘How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings! Oh, why didnt I listen to my teachers? Why didnt I pay attention to my instructors? I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace.’ Proverbs 5
but if he were a Dem, it would not be as big of an issue. :-)
You mean like the media did not make a big deal out of Spitzer?

Any pics of the mistress yet? I’m picturing her as looking like Salma Hayek. For her it is worth destroying your family and career.
Sanford needs to resign. If he can’t be faithful to his wife...he shouldn’t be governor of any state.
Maybe we should see what his mistress looks like. Argentinian (and Uruguayan) women are generally quite attractive.
I tire of the “woman made me do it” asinine comments. If you can’t control your !@$#@ that’s your problem.
Anyone this stupid needs to be run out of office.
I was wondering when the “guilty-not guilty” mindset from the child-molestor threads would spread over here.
