Except having his emails posted to the media. That is more tawdry than the emails themselves, and criminal too, I would think.
I think it depends. If he wrote and sent them on government-owned computers, it may be law that the emails belong to the public. In that case, Sanford has no one to blame but himself. I don’t know that to be a fact, though — looks like there’s a lot more to this story that we’ll be hearing about for the next three weeks.
You could be right. But I’ve heard enough of this story already. The good news is there will be one less faction on FR pretending their guy is a better conservative than Hunter for 2012. LOL
I was gearing up to be one of those people. :) I still say Sanford’s record of fiscal conservatism blows Hunter’s out of the water...but no need to argue about that at this point. In my view that rat b@stard Sanford is reckless, irresponsible, and not fit for public office.
I would argue you are wrong. I don’t recall a peep out of Sanford regarding the original $700 billion Bush/Pelosi/McCain/Obama crap sammich. Hunter was violently opposed, and issued 4 press releases condemning it and offering a free market way to “fix” the problem.
Sanford was battling the TARP bailout in testimony before Congress back in October:

That is the stimulus, not the TARP. TARP was 700+ billion. Stimulus was 150 billion.
Regardless, I do consider Sanford to be one of the best fiscal hawks in the country. Too bad he pissed on the plums.
