In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
adamantine; adj.
1. utterly unyielding or firm in attitude or opinion. Unyielding; inflexible: "If there is one dominant trait that emerges from this account, it is adamantine willpower" (Eugene Linden). 2. too hard to cut, break, or pierce. 3. like a diamond in luster.
Etymology:1200–1250; ME < L adamantinus < Gk adamántinos. See adamant, -ine 1
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Prepared dinner for the homeless yesterday evening. Five of us from the Church went to the local shelter and served ham w. pineapple, macaroni shells with cheese, green beans and banana pudding. Served over 100.
Yeah, I’m home. Awful lot of hippies up there. Prius-drivers. A “Solar store” and a place called “All About Beads.”
Mays got bumped on the noggin by some carry-on luggage during a rough landing. Didn’t feel too well and went to sleep. Woke up dead.
Not to cast asparagus or anything, but I know if I took a bump to the head, my wife wouldn’t let me go to sleep unitl we got it checked out.
“She’s tidied up and I can’t FIND anything!”

Michael Jackson was adamantine that he had never sexually abused the adamant teen who accused him of such behavior. Jackson did give the kid more than ten million dollars in a settlement, but would not admit any culpability. The late King of Pop paid the kid all of that money “just to make the whole thing go away.” Riiiight!

oh LE, it’s horrible isn’t it? i was with a group of women friends on Friday and everyone was feeling the same way. it’s hard to know what to do about it.

My mom would wig out at the recent sissification of the nursing profession. She got her start while still in school, during the polio epidemic, and worked 7-12 hour shifts a week for many months. You just do what you have to do.
I don’t know if it’s “sissified” to not want to be forced to work overtime all of the time.
