From the August 2009 issue of Runner's World
When did you start running? I grew up in a running family. My parents caught the running craze in the mid '70s and we grew up doing family runs. I've been running now easy for 35 years.
Do you remember your first race? My dad was a track coach and he'd get all the neighborhood kids together and take us to Anchorage for track meets when we were very young. Anchorage is 50 miles from Wasilla. And ever since we were little we'd do 10-K races as family fun runs.
So you grew up running with your siblings? Yes, and my siblings and parents were better runners than I. My mom and dad were marathoners and one of my sisters is a marathoner. Dad ran Boston a couple times, mom would win her age group or at least get a ribbon in the big races, and I would just try to keep up.
Sounds like your skills were more suited to basketball? Well, I appreciated the fact that in running I needed guts more than anything. I could do fine just being really determined. I was thankful that I didn't need a whole lot of skills to run.
And running was your first athletic activity, even before basketball? Yes. My parents instilled in us that fitness and running were going to be a part of our lives growing up. My siblings and I are all still very active. A lot of days I look forward to getting out to run and think and plan.
Was there ever a period when you didn't run? Only when I was too pregnant to run. During each of my five pregnancies I worked out until right before the babies were born.

My wife is a marathon runner and this is just one more reason why she loves Sarah.
I’m ready for Sarah to run.

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
Heck, I’m ready for her to take the oath of office!
I tell you what, Sarah looks amazing no matter wear she is. Not like the Evil one
should have said ‘where’
should have said where
both work for me...no matter what she wears or where she wears it...
She lists Van Halen and AC/DC among her favorite running tunes. Yet another thing for me to like about her. :)

Not Guilty
Ma’am, we thank you for your service and it an honor to have you here.
I just wanna murder the republicans who stayed home.
WOW! She’s Governor-licious! In a few years she’ll become the hottest president the world has ever seen. And I predict she’ll be a good and fair leader.
Oh, yeah!
If that politics thing doesn’t work out, she could always become a pinup model!
"If she was president, she'd be Babe-raham Lincoln."
Hotness!
If she were President she would be Baberaham Lincoln.
Argh! You beat me by THAT much.

I'm thinking that Sarah makes Kathleen's head explode - it must be jealousy!
Kathleen P does her least-coherent work when she writes about Mrs. Palin.
Yer killin’ me over here...
you will like... ; )
She’s one hot granny. I hope she gets good people in her camp, because the GOP and DC are filled with thieves who need to be booted out, and they are going to do everything to stop her.
LOL!!

Good interview. Great pics.
RUN SARAH RUN!
RUN SARAH RUN!
RUN SARAH RUN!
YAAAAAAYY!
(Love ya girl!) :)
New PC background! Thanks tons.
Just from reading this interview and viewing the slideshow I can’t help but shake my head and wonder what there is not to love about her? She is one in a million, a rarity.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Wow: is it getting warm in here?
I’m a runner also, and I *love* that Gov. Palin runs, but I can assure you that her being a runner is not what further endears the Gov. to your wife. Runner’s World once had John Edwards on the cover with a title that read: Running for President. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!
There’s no questioning the Governor’s toughness bona fides. It’s just nice to see that it extends to the physical realm as much as to the others. She really is Wilderness Barbie. I’m glad that Fred Thompson said that she’s the first person we’d had on the ticket who could field-dress a moose since TR.
She was probably impressed that McCain was born in Panama.
By saying old Van Halen I’m assuming she’s DLR fan and doesn’t care too much for the Sammy years. Good for her. Another plus.
Interestingly, she has said before that she gave her son the middle name Van because she thought Van Palin sounded cool.
I had to stop reading at the start of the interview though when she talked about her thighs were throbbing
Why would someone take a picture of Palin in shorts and then crop off her legs???

Good point...stupid? Blind?

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife............
Sorry Todd. I won’t let it happen again. lol
Not me. I'm still using that picture where she took off ...
her glasses.
You mean, it's better than this one?
LOL!!!
At least I have good taste in women. ;)
If she were an ancient civilization, she’d be Babe-ylon.
I think thatis where my mind was
I may as well give the knock out punch now!
I’m having a cardio workout just FReepin’!
Oh my gosh !!! You are the hero of millions of Freepers !!!!
LOL!!! ;-)
