Agreed, although I could be tempted by some of the Saturn bankruptcy sale deals. It's a bit of a dilemma, but since ObamaMotors threw Saturn overboard, I could rationalize buying one.
But I probably won't. My current Saturn is 12 years old and running fine. Wasn't planning on replacing it anytime soon.
I am on my iPhone, so I can’t give you as much help as I could. But there some neat sites like realcartips.com among others that have data on recent purchases. Maybe after I get to my pc, I’ll be able to get you links (that are actual links).
No links to offer, just advice. Do not let them suck you into the monthly payment trap ... negotiate a total price, not a monthly price. And don’t talk trade in until that price has been reached. Dealer add ons, like paint or fabric sealer, are just a crooked way of adding to the price so turn those down too.
Above all, be prepared to walk away and take your business elsewhere.
Huge Nissan fan here! A GM purchase is a vote for obama! Just a suggestion, buy an SUV or pickup now before the prices skyrocket due to EPA standards.
By the way, good for you for refusing to participate in this obama recession!
Don’t laugh but have you checked Costco.
Bro in law bought his jeep from Costc. Great price.
Never go to the dealer. Handle everything by telephone or e-mail. You’ve already got what you need from Edmunds. Do the arithmetic and you’ll know what you’ll have to pay.
Secondly. Never, never, never, never, agree to the price put forward by the dealer. Let him negotiate with himself. I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, agree to the price until it hits the price target. And if that doesn’t work, walk out the door.
If you are bound and determined to buy this week, you will pay more than you should. Let the dealer squirm. You don’t have to do a thing.
I’ve bought at least 25 new vehicles and know the routine. I actually enjoy it. You can do if you are willing to play a strong hand of poker. Never give yourself away. If you can’t make a deal in the present climate you never will. This is absolutely a buyer’s market. You are in the driver’s seat.
