The pitbull nanny dog "An Endangered Species
Tuscon Examiner ^ | August, 2009 | Shelly Bright

To some, the "Pitbull type" dog is a genetic ticking time-bomb of violence bred to be a fighting machine, but to many others this dog is a phenomenal and gentle canine companion whose sole purpose is to please the humans that love them.

The Pitbull is a term commonly used to describe several breeds of dog in the Molosser family. Many breed-specific laws use the term "pit bull" to refer to the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Terrier, and dogs with significant mixes of these breeds.

All of these tenacious dogs have one thing in common, an undeniable desire, determination and perseverance to please their masters, even fighting to their death under the guidance of Man in exploitation of this breed for violent entertainment.

Bred specifically for violence and "gameness", it is in their DNA.

you can't undo DNA.

What this law has shown is its inhumanity in its entirety. Eradicating, annihilating, and obliterating an entire breed of dog that was once our nation's icon, a three-times decorated war hero, a national symbol of dedication and bravery, and the poster dog of America.

The only breed of dog that has American as part of its name. The logo of the RCA record company with the tilted head, listening to its master voice.

My pit died 2 years ago at age 13 best dog I ever had, she birthed 33 puppies in just two litters, amazing!

A trait reflected in their defenders.

"Nipper," was actually part Bull Terrier and part Fox Terrier click here and the Buster Brown dog sure looks like a pit!

Our Pit stands guard when the kids are outside, he’s always watching what is around them - which is good since there has been 2 bear sightings within 6 miles of my house in the past week.

Well, Nipper was RCA’s logo and they say he was a Fox terrier.

The “bully” type terriers descended from the molossers and have similar physical characteristics, although they vary a lot in size. If the Buster Brown dog artwork (great pic - thanks) is proportionately accurate to the boy (Buster), he’s not a Pit. The dog’s head would be as large as Buster’s.

I had big hopes that this post was going to about Democratic women serving in The House and Senate.

Having said that, I'm quite sure the the “nanny bulls” have many more redeeming qualities than the women mentioned above.

I’ve had three. Best dogs ever. I send $50.00 a month in their memory to my city pitbull rescue (more if the cretinous bigots we run into on this website tick me off).

Dogs are what their masters make them. If you mistreat, starve, brutalize, and train it to be vicious, it will be.

You could do the same to a Lab or a Golden Retriever, arguably two of the most gentle breeds out there.

If a specific, INDIVIDUAL dog is vicious and poses a danger to people, fine - humanely remove it.

PEOPLE are the problem, not the dog. I have known many owners with “Pit Bulls” and those dogs are the same as any other dog. Maybe they’re a bit on the tougher side, but the ones that I’ve encountered have been loving, loyal animals that have NEVER hurt anyone.

The term “Pit Bull” is sorta like “Assault Rifle” - it’s deliberately misleading, calculatedly threatening, and stupid terminology with an agenda behind it, designed to frighten the uninformed and stampede the herd.

And for the record, whenever I hear talk of “eradicating an entire breed”, my hackles go up. If I were a “Pit Bull” owner, there’d be some SERIOUS problems for ANYONE trying to take my dog(s) for “eradication”. And I do mean serious problems.

Where do we draw the line with these stupid laws and equally stupid lawmakers? For that matter, do we even draw the line anywhere, anymore?

I know I do.
