I'm glad Badoer got a chance to drive in F1 again. He's been a loyal and faithful guy for years

He seems to have proven that a driver who collects telemetry is distinctly different from a racer who collects points

Ferrari's next announcement may well be regarding Alonso's turn to drive for the Red team

I heard Kimi interviewed by Bob Marsha (sp) on a Ferrari special last week or so

He was asked if he always wanted to drive for Ferrari ... he was ambivalent and said he always wanted to drive formula one and there are lots of teams for which he would be happy to drive .. odd answer in an interview on a Ferrari special

Kimi will be fine wherever .... hard to feel sorry for a guy who gets to drive for the Red team and get caught in bed with 3 supermodels at a time

I remember when his Ferrari died in Monaco a few years back and he got out of the car stepped over the barricade and jumped on the back a a boat with two ladies instead of going back to the pit

Pretty cool that iceman

I call Kimi ‘the mumbler’.

He’s an awesome driver, but as an F1 personality he is a stick in the mud. For sure not my favorite driver in interviews, but I enjoy his racing.

I’m not sure what team he would fit in. I guess if Alonso goes to Ferrari, maybe Renault, though he might clash with Flavio. Certainly not Maclaren (can’t see him playing second fiddle to Hamilton).

Renault called to face fix charge

Formula One's governing body has summoned Renault to a hearing to answer charges that they fixed the outcome of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

The French team are accused of plotting with driver Nelson Piquet Jr to crash in the race to deploy the safety car.

The incident aided Piquet's team-mate Fernando Alonso, with the Spaniard going on to claim victory.

If found guilty, the team face severe sanctions which could include expulsion from the current F1 world championship.

Rats, you beat me to it. I was going to say something similar. I would have replace “woman” with backmarker.

Spanning the globe

By land, sea and air, the IndyCar Series is en route to Japan for the Sept. 19 Indy Japan 300.

The 13,000-mile round-trip adventure has been a action point atop Bill van de Sandt's day planner since soon after joining the Indy Racing League in January as director of operations. The IndyCar Series will compete at Twin Ring Motegi for the eighth consecutive year.

i still would like to see Indy have FOUR races a year...

Indy cars on BOTH courses and F1 on BOTH courses.

flame on...

No flames here; I live in Indy and have been going to the track for over 40 years. I’d love to see F1 return; it was without doubt the best event there. I don’t blame Tony George for its discontinuation. I think he did everything he could to accommodate that greedy little pervert ecclestone (dont ask how I really feel about him.)

I don’t think F1 should race on the oval; it’s not their game.

I’m ambivalent about a 2nd Indy race on the road course.

As for F1, I do have a scheduling idea that makes sense. F1 should not have more than 18 events per year. What they should do is have 24 sanctioned tracks, and do a four year rotation where each track gets a race 3 of every 4 years.

Fiery 500 For A Cool Scot

Jimmy Clark won the fastest, biggest and richest Indy in an English Lotus powered by an American Ford engine and serviced by a stock-car pit crew, leaving the Speedway's old guard in disarray

Clark's 1965 win was the first win for a rear-engined car at the Indianapolis 500. No front-engined car has won the race since.

Canadian GP back for 2010 season

The Canadian Grand Prix will return to the Formula 1 calendar next year after organisers reached an agreement with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.

The Canadian GP, which had been part of the F1 World Championship since 1967, was dropped for this season as a result of a financial disagreement.

The Montreal race has been provisionally agreed for 6 June 2010.

wait there's more...

Piquet 'now unemployable in F1'

Formula 1 is nervously awaiting the outcome of the inquiry into Nelson Piquet Jr's claim to have crashed intentionally under instructions during last year's Singapore Grand Prix in order to help his Renault team-mate Fernando Alonso's race.

We will have an answer around 21 September and before the next GP in Singapore, ironically where all the troubles began last year.

The word in the paddock is that team boss Flavio Briatore will step away from F1 - possibly even before the hearing.

Briatore and director of engineering Pat Symonds deny the allegations that they asked Piquet to crash and Renault have stated that they have initiated a criminal case against the Piquets for extortion and attempted blackmail. Heavy stuff.

So does addition of Montreal Candian GP preclude adding a US GP?

BTW Cosworth is back in business of supplying F1 engines, for 2010.

well we're getting closer to the US ... I got to Indy for the non-race when all of the French tires surrendered

The nasty nelsons have become quite a soap opera ... LOL

I think Flavio has too much ego to just walk away ... I think .. for what that's worth
