This will be a general purpose thread for F1 news and pings that really don't require a thread of their own.
So how many races are they going to run in 2013? Or are they going to continue to drain races away from Europe?
I’d really like to see them have races in a rotation; every 3 out of 4 years in North America, every 3 out of 4 years in the Far East, every 3 out of 4 years in the Middle East, but every year at the core tracks in Europe.
That way they can keep the races to a manageable number, but I doubt Bernie will go for that. He’ll ruin F1 just like the same practices ruined NASCAR.
The “Grand Prix of Monaco” to be followed by “The Grand Prix of Weehawken”.
I dunno, doesn’t quite roll off the tongue as well. :)
Still, that is within an easy train ride from where I live, so I’d be up for that.
got to figure turkey is out in the near future (too bad- great track)...bahrain is on life support (thankfully)...they are having all kinds of issues with the Indian GP and its not yet turned a wheel (want to tax everyone 25%)...korea just re-upped but that race is a bore...
Probably heresy for me to say this, but several races are boring year-in and year-out, including Monaco and Monza. But those bring in huge and/or rich crowds, so they are not going anyplace.
I want more race tracks like Spa and Suzuka.
Anyone see that on-board, driver’s view video of Lucas di Gracci going around Barcelona? Jaw dropping feeling of speed, much more so than the typical on-board cameras (as I understand it, this was at driver’s eye level). And just an installation lap. These guys are super-human in some ways.

.......*smiles*...they better watch out for car hijackers...
I know the area well....along the water front makes sense...it’s the only part of Google Weehawken NJ...it’s mostly along the water front...park like setting.....only rebuilt area there...
I saw the Top Gear episode where one of the guys tried to drive one of Lewis Hamilton’s F1 machines. He said the car wanted to act-react faster than he could think.
In all the world there are probably only a handful of people who can competitively drive an F1 car. Narain Kartekeyan is not one of them.
Monaco and Monza will never leave the series. If they did there would be rioting in Italy. But Suzuka is an awesome circuit, so is Albert Park IMO. Gilles Villeneuve is also great; if you can go worst to first on an F1 track like Jensen Button, it must have something to offer.
Knew that there would not be a NYC F1 race, the taxes would kill the teams.............
SPEED CHANNEL LIVE BROADCAST ...announcing NJ GP on now
...it was an hour long...*LOL*...the lay out looks interesting, it should be on YT soon...
I’m waiting to see the elevation maps....that first hill is steep...(then think Monico) with the snake like curves that go forever (uphill).....
..no no...big hill up after second right...another left...then snake like curves still climbing.....the wavy bit across the top is wide boulevard type street (don’t know how wide they’ll have it there)...but then narrows down to begin the downhill (speed here) then down to the hairpin....then high speed to three turns to pit....think they said elevation between 150 and 200 feet. There is a map somewhere I’ll find it..*grins*
