Gonna Change My Way of Thinking (Bob Dylan)
Little House on Unaka ^ | October 5, 2009 | don-o

Bob Dylan began a live concert tour in Seattle last night and the first song he Played was "Gonna Change My Way of Thinking"

Gonna change my way of thinking,
Make myself a different set of rules.
Gonna change my way of thinking,
Make myself a different set of rules.
Gonna put my good foot forward,
And stop being influenced by fools.

So much oppression,
Can't keep track of it no more.
So much oppression,
Can't keep track of it no more.
Sons becoming husbands to their mothers,
And old men turning young daughters into whores.

Stripes on your shoulders,
Stripes on your back and on your hands.
Stripes on your shoulders,
Stripes on your back and on your hands.
Swords piercing your side,
Blood and water flowing through the land.

Well don't know which one is worse,
Doing your own thing or just being cool.
Well don't know which one is worse,
Doing your own thing or just being cool.
You remember only about the brass ring,
You forget all about the golden rule.

You can mislead a man,
You can take ahold of his heart with your eyes.
You can mislead a man,
You can take ahold of his heart with your eyes.
But there's only one authority,
And that's the authority on high.

I got a God-fearing woman,
One I can easily afford.
I got a God-fearing woman,
One I can easily afford.
She can do the Georgia crawl,
She can walk in the spirit of the Lord.

Jesus said, "Be ready,
For you know not the hour in which I come."
Jesus said, "Be ready,
For you know not the hour in which I come."
He said, "He who is not for Me is against Me,"
Just so you know where He's coming from.

There's a kingdom called Heaven,
A place where there is no pain of birth.
There's a kingdom called Heaven,
A place where there is no pain of birth.
Well the Lord created it, mister,
About the same time He made the earth.

He has a Christmas album coming out. He's going to donate the proceeds to help feed the poor. I'm unemployed at this moment, but I'll be buying and enjoying this record for the entire holiday season.

If I met Bob Dylan, I wouldn't know what to say. I think my emotions would get the better of me and I'd go on and on about what his music means to me. So I guess I would probably just shake his hand and say "thank you" instead.

Will give a full review tomorrow. This will probably be my 10th time seeing him since 1980.

Cool. Hope you have a great time.

As much as I like his music, I've never seen him live. I need to do something about that.

I just got his "Together through Life" album from Itunes, but they did not include the covers disc that came with the CD version.

That's what I get for not buying it on vinyl, lol.

From the ones I have heard he sounds like I imagine 50's radio DJs were. Stories about the artists he is playing and like I said corny jokes.

Archive of the episodes of his show.

I haven't downloaded any from there. The Friends and Neighbors episode came with the deluxe edition of Together Through Life.

Slow Train is excellent. That would have been a great concert to see.

Dylan is not defined by Wiki articles.

Nice try, though.

I should add though....his band is awesome.

Reports are that Charlie Sexton is back on lead guitar and has brought a fresh energy tp the band.

ROTFL! Yeah, he do tend to mumble, don't he?

SirKit and I saw him live in Hattiesburg MS, in 1976, when he was touring with the Rolling Thunder Revue. Apart from his performance, he spoke two words to the audience the entire night. At the end of his last song, he leaned into the mike and said "Thank You". It was a great show, though!

Well he has been positively verbose when I have seen him then. We got a “thank ya friends.” haha.

A lot of people seem to walk away unhappy because even when he is doing songs closing in on 50 years old it isn’t a rote playing of the song. Everyone wants to hear the song they way they remember it from the radio. Bob is way too restless for something like that. In fact, I don’t think he has ever left Tangled Up In Blue alone. It has new lyrics added almost from the beginning.

Could it be he just forgot the original lyrics? ;^)

I love Tangled Up In Blue in all its versions. That, and Van Morrison’s “Astral Weeks” both kill me.
