LOVELAND, Ohio, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- An Ohio man landed a 95-pound blue catfish in Lake Isabella, a park district record and only one pound less than the state record holder, park officials said.
Lake Isabella Harbor Manager Harry Scott said the massive catfish, which he weighed twice for accuracy, dwarfs the previous largest catch in Hamilton County Park District's history, a 50-pound blue catfish, and weighs in at only one pound under the 96-pound state record, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Wednesday.
"I've never seen anything this big in my whole life, and I've seen lots of fish," Scott said. "I had them take it out of the basket the first time and do it again because I can't believe what I'd just seen."
The fish was caught Saturday by Dwight Kidwell Jr., 26.
"I was only there for about 35 minutes and I hooked it," he said. He said the fish fought him for another 35 to 40 minutes before he was able to pull it from the water.
The fish was released back into the water after its weighing.

Wow, is that guy behind him haveing to support him to hold that big fish?
Shocked this is from a lake, When I saw the head line I thought it would be from the river. The River by Marietta has catfish the size of vw buses, but I don’t know anyone who has caught one, Just pictures.
If it is from the lake, I wonder if it is good eating.

I'd think it might be a bit strong tasting, but I'm not fond of catfish. I've seen carp in Ohio lakes while I was bow-fishing that I'd estimate were nearly twice the size of that catfish.

It’s a pretty small stocked paylake. I bet the banks of the lake will packed now!

Its been 25 - 30 yrs or so, but I've fished this lake and back then the cats, and other fish, were good eating. Water was clean.
Biggest cat I ever puled out was about 10-12 lbs...I was happy as a clam with that.
I don't know the lake conditions now but its a long time favorite fishing lake so I think its probably been well monitored and maintained.
Of course the old saying is that them big fish don;t taste as good...that, I don't know....;)

RE: http://www.lake-isabella.org/
That's the Lake Isabella?
The article says Loveland is near by, actually Branch Hill is closest to Lake Isabella.

Ya know...that didn't seem right. Wrong side of the state. I never knew there was another Lake Isabella. Here's the one for the story and where I fished:
