Wellllllllllllllllll, my mouth is more or less in the same place.

Lots of bruising showing up on the outside now—partially hidden by white beard—appear to be places where he had to grab my jaw quite roughly and intensely. Was still bleeding yesterday morning after we’d though it had stopped. Now appears to be stopped or close to it.

Still sleeping lots with the meds. Still feel ran over by a train. Should be able to teach Tues. Need to try and get admin stuff done Monday for that Tuesday teaching effort.

Long live Vita-Mix and its capacity to puree all kinds of things.

The Written Word

Last January, ESPN television ran a compelling feature about Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who had just been named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player. But the feature was not about football. Instead, it explained that for several years, when certain competitors Manning admired were retiring from the NFL, he took time to handwrite a note to them, congratulating them on their careers and their character.

Each recipient who was interviewed expressed deep appreciation that one of the greatest players of all time would do that. It was a great reminder of the power of the written word.

While a written note from a respected athlete such as Peyton Manning has much value, no human’s words can compare with the written Word we have from God in Scripture. Paul wrote, “Whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Rom. 15:4). In the life-changing wisdom of the Bible, we have a personal message that tells us what God desires for us to be and what He desires to be for us. He has given us His written Word so we “might have hope” as we face the issues of life. Out of gratitude, let’s read God’s written message—and watch it change our lives.

Cling to the Bible; this jewel and treasure
Brings life eternal and saves fallen man;
Surely its value no mortal can measure;
Seek for its blessing, O soul, while you can. —Anon.

As I was working on files over the weekend, I ran across this. I’m sharing it again because I think you will enjoy it.

Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall’s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment.
Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise.

Nothing.

She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster.

No good.

Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!

“And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. “I’m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.

“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He’s really, really sick ... and I want to buy a miracle.

“I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist.

“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?

“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little.

“Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”

The pharmacist’s brother was a well dressed man. He Stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?”

“I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. “I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money”.

“How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago.

“One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.

“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents-the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.”

He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said, “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents.

Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn’t long until Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. “That surgery,” her Mom whispered. “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?”

Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost. one dollar and eleven cents ...... plus the faith of a little child.

A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law...... (A TRUE STORY)

All bottom teeth pulled Friday morning—12 that were left.

Tons of sawing—literally—slicing and suturing.

System seems to have taken a real jolt from it. Bleeding seems not stopped. Then stopped. Then not stopped. Wheee. Denture flopping around as a small thing in a big bucket. Interesting bruise marks through white beard.

An interesting experience.

One I’d have been happy to trade out of.

I finally got around to going fishing this morning but after a while I ran out of worms.

Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bass bait.. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth; I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back and he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on my fishing with the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same damn snake with two frogs in his mouth

St. Judes Hospital in Memphis treats childhood cancers, it's free to any and all from around the world. There are many heroes Dr. Armstrong and Danny Thomas are just two of them.

Thanks, jaycee. I like the whistling in the song, too. I don't know how old the song is - it was on a cd someone gave me for Christmas this year (well, last year now actually), but I think it was a compilation of several of their songs from various cds. A group I'm not familiar with, but I have liked many of the songs on the cd. :)

Just back from visit to regular Dentist and stop by Sam’s for prescrip and eye exam.

Dr B said we neeeded to wait for more swelling to go down—that it’s still essentially pretty butchered up.

So will see him and Oral Surgeon again on Friday of this week. Long live Vita-Mix puree’s! And huge Taiwan pearl tea straws. And a longer excuse to eat flan!

Thanks tons for your prayers and caring. And TiaPam and Yorkie—your wonderfully sweet cards just arrived. Yea! You touched my heart yet again!

May God return a 100 fold to both of you. And to Amy and those praying on this thread the same as well.

Hi Billie. Time has passed quickly it seems. Logan just turned 8 in Dec. and in 2nd grade. I just picked him up from school and will be taking him to his Teakwondo class in a little while. He just earned his green belt in Dec.

Oh, and Christian is 13 and an 8th grader. The football team at his Christian school won the state championship in the small high school catagory.
