I heard Janet Vogel perform with the skyliners in Washington, DC in 1979, shortly before her death. I also met Dodie Stevens at a party at the home of a rock and roll historian.

Yes, Brightman is very talented, and pretty. Your wife sounds like a great talent too!

Laura Nyro’s “Wedding Bell Blues” was a hit in Southern California in December of 1966, but doesn’t seem to have caught fire anywhere else. Her version is superior to the Fifth Dimension’s, which came out about three years later and went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Yeah, but I had the biggest schoolboy crush on Marilyn McCoo.

Karen Carpenter could out-sing anyone

It's true, although I don't enjoy her sugary-sweet genre.

She, my wife, was asked to sing at the Kennedy Center on Memorial day 2011. We are looking to see if we can do it.

Can't believe I got all the way down to post 33 before seeing Ann Murry. Bravo. I like your list as the best so far but may I add Wynonna Judd.

Is Vera Lynn mentioned in one of Pink Floyd’s tracks from “The Wall?”

That's the same Vera Lynn. She launched a string of hits in England in 1935 and finally made the US charts in 1948. She was performing in public as late as 1995. In March she will turn 93.

"Ann Murray"

I thought of her too. She could sing the phone book. Not AMAZING but very pure.

Alanis Morissette

there is a video on YOUTUBE of her singing live the song UNINVITED from City of Angels... it's haunting... her performance is fantastic... all she is doing is standing there singing--no running around the stage or anything like that... yet, she's mesmerizing...
