DES MOINES, Iowa -- The annual Bacon Fest held in Des Moines this weekend is already sold out.
The third annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival kicks off on Saturday. Last year, bacon lovers indulged in 13 different kinds of bacon.
This weekend's festival is sold out. Close to 600 people have purchased tickets to chow down on more than 1,000 pounds of bacon on Saturday.
Baby Boomers Cafe in the East Village is gearing up for Bacon Fest by making their famous chocolate chunk cookies with bacon.
Owner Rodney Maxfield said they've already sold 2,800 this week.
"I think its a little bit of both. I think people just love bacon actually and of course they love the cookie, so you put two things together and you get a bacon cookie," said Maxfield.
A bacon-eating contest will wrap up the festival on Saturday afternoon. Tickets are sold out to the contest.

I cannot believe this is allowed to be continued. Do you know how badly this makes muslims feel.
This event must be stopped.

Ah the site of Bacon, Bacon, Bacon has brightened up my otherwise Blizzard of a morning in New York. Hit very bad in the part of Queens, where I live. JoeProBono-San, Domo Arigato Gozaimasu for the Bacon Pictures.

No kidding. It will upset them so badly, they'll start picking their nose on live TV. I saw one do it yesterday.

Personal Opinion: Bacon is good. Bacon makes just about everything better. But...bacon in a chocolate-chip cookie??
I have a degree in Culinary Arts, and as a chef, I’m supposed to keep an ‘open palate’. However, there are some lines I will NOT cross. THAT is one of them.
