Whitney looks she spent the entire night looking for her hairline and she still hasn't found it
She’s also one of the greatest singers in musical history.
Osama bin Laden is in love with her.
The records will live on for decades, more than I can say for most of us. Sorry, I’m not a big fan of how we the public wait in the wings to tear down people the minute they fall, unless it’s Obama, then go hard.
Was this picture taken in Chile?
Oh she is not. She knows how to belt out a note but she’s a terrible singer.
Isn’t a picture like this supposed to have the name of a police department, the date, and the booking number underneath it?
“Hey, scab. Don’t you know I’m one of the greatest singers in musical history.”
You’ve got that right, she is a marvelous singer.
Crack cocaine. Probably a little meth, thrown in their as well.
CRACK SKANK! It is sad I had the huggest crush in 87.
That’s really Bobby Brown in a wig.
Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!! a shopping basket full of clothes and scrap metal would finish that effect. what a waste.
Well before she became addicted to about 12 different illegal drugs...
“Sorry, Im not a big fan of how we the public wait in the wings to tear down people the minute they fall”
Personally, I think the Lady has a great voice.
WAS..., she has almost none of her voice left IMO.
You forgot the word “was”.
I’m sure there has been a moment that I have looked like that. Don’t know if it’s been in public with 30 cameras in my face and 20 million people buying magazines just to see me in a bad light, though.
My sympathies, it’s just mean, but I clicked on it.
Guilty as charged.
Money without the good sense to know what to do with it will leave you looking this way.
Money comes rolling in then the alcohol, the drugs, hangers-on that call themselves friends, marriage to a wife beater. a God given gift turned to crap. No one to blame but yourself.
No need to tear her down, she did that all by herself. NO sympathy for drug addiction...everyone is well aware of the evils by the time they’re eight years old. EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS/HER OWN ACTIONS. Bye bye Whitney.
What did Whitney and Micheal Jackson have in common? Twelve year old crack habit.
In a performance that can only be described as rocky at best, a sweat-drenched Whitney Houston attempted to sing her hit “I Will Always Love You” during a concert Monday night in Australia.
Whitney’s weirdness reaches its peak right before she’s supposed to hit the high note — when she suddenly turns around, walks over to a table behind her, and then spends an excessive amount of time gearing up for the big finish.
When Whitney finally gets ready, she comes back to the mic and belts out the chorus to the song ... and let’s just say she gets an E for Effort.
She may look like she was dipped in sh*t and hung out to dry but the lady had some primo pipes at one time. I remember sitting in a tent with my sleeping bag around me in Saudi and listening to her rendition of the National Anthem that pulled tears from alot of soldiers’ eyes. I have never seen the standard she set day even approached, let alone matched. Jeez! She tore it up that day.
Bobby didn’t dig the dookie bubbles out of my butt.
That link should come with a hurl warning
That’s just wrong.
agree she is terrible
Crack, it's bad for you.
Man I thought I looked bad in the mornngs!
She looks like an over-fed crack whore.
she needs a shave too
Disguise as a hasbeen?
At one time, she was absolutely one of the most beautiful women in the world.
I am a Vocal Instructor and Coach by Training and Profession. Maybe I can shed a little light on Whitney’s voice.
What most of us LOVED about Whitney’s voice was its FLEXIBILITY. Her “Runs”, Melismas,(turns on one syllable),and Cadenzas,(Long passages based on scales and arpeggios) were breathtaking. She was able to execute them nearly flawlessly and smoothly. This was her strongest attribute.
However, her vocal placement (which controls the “color” of her voice) was inconsistent. She placed low notes in her chest and high notes in her head, which is very “Old-School”. At some point, the voice has to “break”,when going from the chest to the face, and then another break going from the face to the forehead. This is something that some people find very annoying, and is probably why some people on this thread didn’t like her voice even when she was in her prime.
Inconsistent vocal placement encourages “BELTING” which slams air on the vocal folds and invites blisters and eventually callouses called NODES. Whitney would have eventually destroyed her voice even without the cocaine, but of course, that didn’t help either.
Stevie Nicks goes under the knife frequently to have nodes removed because of her belting, from what I have been told by someone close to her in the business.
I spend hours retaining singers who have been taught this way. It is hard work saving voices.
Just a devastating culural loss for America. But who didn’t know it would come to a bad end when she married Bobby Brown?
I liked her in the movie Bodyguard with Kosner but she doesn’t need a bodyguard now.
For some reason, the Paul Simon song comes to mind.....
I remember her rendition of the anthem at Super Bowl XXV — lip-synched or not, it was simply stirring. What a shame her life’s taken such a turn.
I have to agree its sad talent gone to waste. It’s like the Rushbo says life is all about choices.
Thanks for your analysis.
I’ve listened to Whitney over the decades and while I appreciated her range I always wondered why I’d cringe when she “belted” certain notes. It just wasn’t pretty. Not to mention overdoing those “Cadenzas”. Maybe it’s a black thing but I couldn’t appreciate it. She was always hoarse when interviewing too. No wonder.
Back in the Day, when I was studying Voice with my Brilliant Voice teacher, The two of us wanted to fly down to Atlanta and RESCUE Whitney from whatever Vocal Coach it was who was advising her!
Alas, having seen the direction my beloved Nation has taken in recent years, I doubt if Whitney would have listed to ME.
I may be from the same neighborhood as her worthless husband, but not the same ethnicity, so WHAT DO I KNOW about R&B singing? Or Politics for that matter? LOL.
I am getting a bumper sticker that has merely 4 qords on it:
I TOLD YOU SO. :-)
I doubt she would have listened to you or anyone for that matter. She wouldn’t listen to her Aunt or even her own Mother Sissy.
Whitney quickly blew up into “Diva” status and the rest is history.
If she could just shake her demons maybe we could get some mellow R&B in her later years. Dion Warwick had some of her greatest hits during those years. She smoked like a fiend too. Didn’t matter. My MIL saw Dion and Bert Bacharach in concert about 10 years ago. She said it was like going back 30+ years.
I certainly hope so!
I am over 50 and still have 4 octaves. I hit high “c”s every day and have no breaks in my voice.
I really believe in the technique that I teach because I am living proof that it WORKS! LOL
Say a prayer for Whitney. She needs THAT more than our criticism. :-)
"Six months ago I met a girl and she was taking singing lessons... and her coach, an eighty-four year-old guy-- you'd think would be the last guy in the world to be weird, but LISTEN TO THIS: he kept wanting her to SING... from her DIAPHRAGM! ...I mean that would take YEARS to learn that, wouldn't it?" - Steve Martin
The diaphragm is only ONE factor! I teach kids to sing from their KNEECAPS!
