It is time again to start making plans to attend the Annual TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. Come join us to celebrate the memory this fine Texas gentlemen.
The 5th Annual TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot will be held June 12, 2010, starting at 10:00 a.m. Our range choice this year is Dietz Gun Range, 421 Range Road, New Braunfels. The cost per person will be $10.00 The Dietz Range is where TexasCowboy hosted one of his shoots in 2003.
This year the after party for the shoot will be held at the range. They have a large canopy with picnic benches underneath for us to hang out. The range does not have any items to cook food with, so we are asking that those who are able, to bring along a cooker. Everyone else please bring a side dish or appetizer. Adult beverages are allowed under the canopy (this does not need to be said but I am going to say in anyway they are not to be opened until all weapons have been cased).
cpdiii has agreed to be our host this year. He will bring, and cook, steaks and shrimp Creole for everyone. I am really looking forward to eating the Creole!
At this time no plans have been made for the Friday evening dinner or Saturday morning breakfast get together. Allegra & I have volunteered to make the sacrifice of a road trip to check out places to eat. One line of thought for dinner is to eat at a German restaurant.
Stay tuned for more info . . .
Good luck to your wife on the knee surgery. If you need to stay home to help her it is understandable.
(See one of the above post, tannerite is not allowed at the range)
No full auto or explosives? Where is the fun in that?! Anyways...will try to make it pending approval from the wife (boss).
Yippee!!!
Wish you could make it. They are always fun.
Are you going to be able to come this year?
Does sound kinda boring. ;-)
Bring the boss with you.
I will send you a head count the first of June. I am really looking forward to eating the creole.
If it’s a trap, I *think* we’ll have enough guns and trigger pullers to be able to shoot our way out of it. :)
The zombies won’t stand a chance.
Yup, we’re in. I’ll bring what I call the global warming beans. Five different kinds of beans slow cooked with a pound of sausage and a pound of bacon, among other things.
Historically, zombies have stayed away from these events. They may be dead, but they aren't stupid.
We have had problems the dreaded El Clayda and the fruit hordes. That was before my time though, and while El Roy was still among us... not that he isn't now, but then it was "in the flesh".
El Clayda formation on the attack.
TheMom fighting them off.

AntiVenom and TC pausing after the battle.
I sure hope so. The last time I had to work, but this year I think I can arrange things to be open that weekend.
Ooo, New Braunsfels, I could actually make this one! The parental units are just up the way in Spring Branch.
:-)
Those pics from American Shooting Center in Houston?
The M1A is history. I blew it up last weekend.
Mark your calendar now. ;-)
As I state every year Mom I will TRY. Honest try....:o)
I would love to see Texas again. Im to far away...
What did you do, take shooting lessons from Eaker?
Got pictures?
Went to shoot some hogs. Pulled the trigger and *click*. Chamber another round and hit two pigs. Follow up shot on another piggy and *click*. Chambered another round and hit that pig. One more target and *click*. Chamber another round and did a bad hit on a little pig.
*Went back to the cabin and ran dry patches through the barrel. Cleaned the chamber, throat, ramp, seating surfaces and then the bolt.
Pulled the bullet from a round that did not fire (dented primer) and cycled it through the chamber a few times to check feed.
With safety still on and gun pointing about 50 degrees to the cabin floor, inserted a fresh round, released the bolt and BOOM...indoors.
Bet that was LOUD.
Could you tell from the wreckage what the problem was?
Sounds at first like a hammer (spring?) or firing pin problem. I guess if the pin was "sticky" and after all the cleaning stuck "out" rather than just being stiff or sticky, then you'd get the boom when you dropped the bolt.
I guess sausage must be on the menu at your place? Maybe BBQ?

Note that just prior I had used a primed, empty case with different results (favorable).
The pigs were left for the yotes. I was by myself; packed up and drove home.
It was nice to see you and meet your wife yesterday. Hope you can make the shoot this year.
Hi there — it was a pleasant surprise to see you too. In a big city like Houston, I don’t expect to see anyone that I know beyond the bounds of where I know them from. For a second there, my wife was wondering, “who’s that gal he’s hugging on”? I’m real lucky she isn’t one of those suspicious kind of women. That’s why I have to behave myself wherever I go - I never know WHO I am going to bump into! I’ll “aim” to attend the shoot this year.
Where did you go hog hunting?
Stephens County.
That would be a good place for it.

What's the scouting report? There are other geriatric sluts out there that need ta know!
Synchronizing our schedules is like trying to round up a herd of monkeys.
We will probably take our road trip withing the next few weeks.
Would you be talking about yerself, there, Mr? ;D
German food would be yummy!
Another month has gone by ping.
Happy Easter everyone.
Happy Easter!!
Got my room reserved, got my plane ticket to Dallas and
my ride to New Braunfels...
I’m READY!!!
See ya in June!
And a Happy Easter to you and yours!
Hope you find the golden egg. ;)
BTTT
Dang - seems like something always conflicts every year so I can’t attend.
The Republican State Convention is on June 11 -12 in Dallas and I’m committed as a delagate. Looks like I’ll be poppin’ off my mouth rather than my gun. The latter would should be a lot more fun, heheh.
I’m gonna make it to one of these shoots one of these years. Just hope I can still see the target by then - just point me down range and get out of the way. Don’t worry, I’m learning to drive by braille, heheh.
Lookin’ forward to the one after this one. (How ‘bout making it semi-annual, like fall and spring? - Just askin’)
Happy First Easter as a granny!
Got any new pictures of the little Wart?
(I use “Wart” as a term of endearment, it’s what Merlin called the young Arthur. We also have been known to use “pickle puss”, “Turkey” and for smaller ones “Turkey Feather”)
I’ll bet New Braunfels is beautiful this weekend.
Happy Easter!
Adding a map link for future reference.
Hope the Easter Beer Bunny is kind to ya Darlin an the good lord keeps ya’ll safe.....
What happened to yer M1A ?
Hope ya didn’t get Eakered ...
Ammunition or SA’s fault ?

Friesenhaus 148 S.Castell New Braunfels TX 78130
Omas Haus Restaurant 1248 FM 1101 New Braunfels TX 78130
I think y'all picked the weekend of the State Republican Convention, so not sure if I'll make it. Have fun.
Happy Easter!
Thanks for the restaurant suggestions! Hope you can make it.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen you at a shoot, hasn’t it?
State Convention, huh? That should be interesting this year!
The Mom and I are talking about going week after next. I'm in pre-deployment mode, so I want to squeeze in all the fun I can now.
The Mom found a restaurant there we want to try. She looked at the online menu and we each already know what we want to order. :). We'll snoop around the range too and then report back.
Unfortunately, I'll be gone well before the shoot and will have to miss it this year.
All of those restaurants sound interesting. I can’t remember the name of the one we found. We’re shooting for sometime in the week of the 12th to go check stuff out.
Iraq again, or "the other place".
Either way, but especially the later, keep your body armor on and your head down. :)
During the planning stages next year we will consult your calendar. ;-) Sorry you won't be able to make it.

Well, just damn. That will probably cause several FReepers not to be able to attend.

I don't have the patience to put together two a year.
