Rams take Oklahoma’s Bradford at No. 1; four Big 12 players chosen first

NEW YORK - The Big 12, led by Oklahoma, kicked off a big party for itself at Radio City Music Hall in the first prime-time NFL draft Thursday night.

Tim Tebow had a grand time, too, breaking into the first round at No. 25 to Denver. The selection of the Florida quarterback, the mystery man of this draft, drew the loudest reaction — a mix of cheers and boos — from the audience.

Why would anyone boo Tim Tebow? Florida certainly isn't my favorite team, but I wouldn't boo the guy. He's a gem of guy amongst countless pieces of coal. You'd think any NFL fan would be happy someone like Tebow is even in the league.

Will he be a successful NFL proto-type QB? We will see.

Lots of immature “Gator Haters” out there who forget that it is just a game. Tim will be a good fit at Denver, and he doesn’t even have to change his team colors!

Go Gators and God bless Tim Tebow!

Draft took place in NYC. Do some of those people need a reason to boo?

He is a nice guy for sure, but him being picked before McCoy and Clausen is strange.

Amen, Mr. Jazzy. As a Gator Mom, I am very happy for Tim. I pray the good Lord blesses him always and that he play a great game with the Broncos. Great human being and a great christian man.

With the exception of the Raiders, the league is becoming more and more “thug averse” and is avoiding potential PR nightmares. Besides, what good is a player that is suspended for drugs, DUI, beating his girlfriend, fighting in the club, etc.

McCoy is definitely curious, but Clausen - to me - just doesn't seem durable (and I'm a ND alumn). I wonder if that played into their decisions. McCoy is coming off an injury too, so maybe it plays there as well.

I want him to succeed, and I don’t want the Broncos to succeed. Must. Trade. Tebow.

Curious why the Broncos thought they had to trade up that far to get him.

I agree - watching Clausen this season made me wonder if he would live up to the hype come draft time. I'll bet he was surprised not to go in the first round.

My son is finishing his fourth year at ND, and will be moving out of Morrissey Manor in a couple of weeks. He's in the School of Architecture, so will be back one more year.

Two reasons.

First is he is a practicing Christian.

Second is that there is great doubt he can be a successful NFL QB. I think perhaps some fans would have been easier had he been a later round selection. Lower risk, higher reward if he worked out.

I like him as a person. If a team were going to take a risk at QB he is the logical choice. Good character, highly motivated. Has some natural athletic talent. Questionable if he can learn the skills well enough to be above average at the position but I have no doubt he’ll give 100% of his effort. I’m not sure I would have picked him in the first round but he is someone I can root for to succeed. Especially because it would upset Mel Kiper.

Doubt they were booing Tebow. They should be booing Denver - #25 is WAY too high for someone with Tebow’s talent. Not good value for that pick.

This was a huge reach. It’s perplexing. He’ll end up as an H-Back. That’s a lot to give for an H-Back.

Oh, good for him. They have a great (and underrated) architecture program. My undergrad is from somewhere else, but I'm an NDLAW alumn.

Why was he booed? You DO realize the draft was in New York City don’t you?

Yeah, someone else pointed that out. But, if you watched the telecast, you could tell he was booed at least a little more than others. Do people in NYC even care about college football, other than the gambling degenerates?

It is interesting that the only one on the ESPN panel that though the Tebow pick made sense had actually been a successful coach (Gruden).

All joking aside, I follow the draft every year and it really is a tradition for fans to boo certain pics ruthlessly. Go to youtube and lookup "nfl draft boos" and you'll see. It's nuts. I don't think they were really singly out Tebow as much as they were the Broncos because the Broncos really went against the grain by drafting him.

Hopefully he'll prove all the critics wrong (I don't think he's an NFL style qb either) and light up the league. He's a fine Christian man and could be a great example to countless people.
