"Taylor and the pimp need to spend a long time in prison."

Or a short time in the gallows. Just saying.

LT raped a 15 year old??

There is no excuse for this. Are you telling that all the 18+ sluts were taken?

In most other lines of business, when one franchisee totally screws itself with the customers, the home office is able to kick sufficient butt to solve the problem. Unfortunately the NFL is not so structured.

The NFL is actually more structured than you might think in a lot of ways. They don't go out and broadcast this all over the place, but the NFL commissioner has powers that would be unheard of in any other business organization of that size.

There's a fascinating story I've heard about the Giants themselves related to this. Back in the late 1970s the team was performing so poorly on the field -- to the point of being tragically comical -- that Pete Rozelle allegedly told the Mara family that he would exercise his authority as NFL commissioner and force them to sell the team (in the best interests of the National Football League) if the team didn't shape up. His concern was that the NFL needed to have two competitive, well-run teams in the nation's largest media market.

It was Rozelle who basically named George Young as the team's GM in 1979 . . . and the rest is history.

It could be that he was setup for blackmail, and took some corrective action.

I have no problem with any of that.

Something to think about, though, is that in sports, a lot of a team's revenue is predicated on its ability to sell itself to loyal (i.e., "emotionally involved") fans. Once they turn away from their loyal fans and focus on other ways to maximize their revenue, they've done some serious harm to their brand.

I will cite NASCAR as Exhibit A on that count. The sport that used to be the focus of weekend activity for millions of people across the South now can't even sell out races in a place like Atlanta, for heaven's sake.

He says he’s innocent. Yes, I assumed it’s true when I read the headline but we need to learn to wait for the facts.

Lawrence Taylor is 51.

If:
1) she is really 15 years old [chronologically, proved by a legitimate birth certificate, not an Hawaiian COLB], and

2) his semen is anywhere on her body,

3) the prosecution can avoid an "OJ" jury,
then he is staring at a good five years of hard time for "statutory" rape before he would have any chance at parole.

And if there is any bruising on her body, then, at age 51, and being African-American [much higher risk of hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, etc etc etc] he will likely die in prison.

True -- the team has managed to keep a very capable management group together for the football operations. Jerry Reese has been one of the most underrated general managers in the NFL over the last few years.

The irony is that the Giants were one of the most highly-prized tickets in the nation even when they were among the worst teams in the NFL. That has changed a lot in recent years.

Sorry but if he was in a hotel room alone with a 15 year old girl he should have known better than to put himself in that situation. So any denials now are hard to believe if it is proven she was in that room.

I still cringe when I think of it. I knew immediately that Joe's career was over when I saw the position of his leg on that first replay. made me cry.

As for L.T. I hope he didn't do this and he deserves his day in court but if he did then he should die behind bars.

Doesn't matter what he says - if she is really 15, and if his semen is anywhere on her body, and if the prosecution can avoid an OJ jury, then he is looking at hard time.

As far as I know, the prosecution shouldn't even have to worry about questions of "intent" - at the age of 15, if nothing else, it's at least a slam-dunk statutory rape case.

IF he's guilty. I'm no LT fan, but I take nothing for granted these days, especially after that fiasco with the Duke lacrosse team members. It needs to play out.

Oh damn, that’s COLD.

I remember watching the “broken leg” game when I was in college in Virginia, in a very boisterous TV lounge split about 50/50 between Redskins and Giants fans. All the Giants fans jumped up and cheered when LT sacked Joe, and cheered louder when Joe was rolling around down on the ground...but they quieted down when Taylor started frantically waving the medical guys out on the field. And they shut up completely after the first replay. We had an intense rivalry between Giants, Redskins, and even Cowboys fans in our dorm, but *nobody* wanted to see Joe go out that way.

The guy that stars on “Bones” who was running around on his wife while she was pregnant recently said the mistress was one and the same as Tiger’s. I think her name is Rachel.

He said he kept quiet because she went to a lawyer to bring it out to the public and that lawyer is none other than Gloria Alread.

Nice racket these two thugs have going. I think there is more than meets the eye.

If she's 15, as is alleged in this case, you shouldn't be giving her the opportunity to say "no", as you shouldn't be asking the question, in the first place.

LT didn’t have the class of Bigelow.

“In July 2000, Bigelow received second degree burns on 40% of his body, while rescuing three children from a burning house near his home. Following the incident, Bigelow spent two months recovering in a hospital.”
