"17 more states planning Ariz. 'illegal' crackdown
But ICE chief says feds might not 'process' illegals arrested by state

In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care, 17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught by the states.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, which has been trying to get officials to address the open southern border for years, warned the consequences could be dire.

"They've told the American public to go eat cake," he said.

His organization is assembling the list of state efforts to emulate the Arizona law, which makes it illegal under state as well as federal law to be in the state without documentation.

Seventeen states are now filing versions of Arizona's SB 1070, which is designed to help local police enforce America's existing immigration laws," ALIPAC said in a report today.

The report said numerous national and local polls indicate 60 to 81 percent of Americans support local police enforcing immigration laws.

Gheen said the states where some form of immigration crackdown is under development include Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Utah."

They need to do it quickly. Arizona cannot, will not, stand alone.

It was Arizona voters who approved the Martin Luther King paid holiday by plebiscite in 1990 afer being passed over for the Superbowl and an intense economic boycott by national groups.

This will be a widespread movement or it will be nothing.

What will the regime say if the states simply make camps for them, lock the doors and throw the keys away?

They're probably counting on something like that so they can bring in UN 'peace keepers' to free the poor unfortunates from the racist states and hand control of said states over to the illegals as reparations.[/tinfoil hat off]

Here is my answer, when the head of ICE says he will not "process" detained illegal aliens.

For border states, it's easy. Load illegals onto buses, back them up to the border, and push them out the back door. Call Mexican authorities, and tell them to pick up their citizens before they get too thirsty.

For non-border states, unload the buses on federal property, preferably at the various federal buildings in the capitals. Guard the property to make sure the illegals don't walk back out onto state property.

Arrest/sentence them then hire India to house them on the cheap.

California definitely wants them and from the sound of it, our President welcomes them in Washington DC - perhaps many of them could get food and lodging at the homes of those politicians who intend to subsidize them. Since the amnesty crowd lives so far from the southern border, a little first-hand up-close and personal experience with a few (say a million or so be transported to DC) might be "educational" for democrats who vigorously cheered on Felipe Calderon.

Still trying to comprehend what the lamebrain media and democrats think they'll gain by going against the 80% of Americans who want the borders secured yesterday. It's as if they actually are antagonizing citizens on purpose.

You nailed it! Gov. Brewer is way out there on a limb right now. A little help from the other states would be greatly appreciated.

FL needs to jump aboard once we’ve rid ourselves of the former RINO now craven “independent” Crist and the Legislature goes back in session in January.

Great news. Recommit this nation to a government OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people. (Not ON the people, AT the people, and AGAINST the people.)

I wish California would join AZ but it will never happen.
I never see any English speaking white people working here. They just layed down new streets this week all Mexicans with one white boss.I feel like we live south of the border.
I call to order pizza - can not understand the person on other end. I say does anyone there speak English . They hang up. I call or Email the top of the company & tell them. I am a bugger.

Stupid California already has a similar law, but unfortunately it is not being enforced...

Penal Code 834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is
suspected of being present in the United States in violation of
federal immigration laws.
(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected
of being present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the
following:
(1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen
of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent
resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time
or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of
immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not
be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding
documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
(2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien
who is present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal
justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or
leave the United States.
(3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United
States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal
status and provide any additional information that may be requested
by any other public entity.
(c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city,
county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with
jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent
or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly
prohibited.

Why don’t the states bus them to Georgetown, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City. Open the doors of the bus and say, “Here you go.” Let the big mouths take them.
