Dang.
My old man got to know Dennis a bit. Hopper was in town shooting a movie and hung out in my Dad's beer joint. Him and Charles Bronson and Viggo Mortensen and [ugh] Sean Penn.
They even gave my Dad a bit part. He's listed in the credits. :-)
Anyway, the old man spoke highly of Dennis Hopper. God rest his soul, and prayers go up for his family and friends.

God Bless and RIP Dennis.
My favorite performance by him was in "Hoosiers". Great movie anyway. He'll be missed.

Great picture of him! Thanks for posting it. There is something ‘different’ about his countenance. Bet you know what it is, Brother.

Me too. That had to be one of the most disturbing movies and characters ever.
“A candy colored clown they call the sandman” or something like that.

He told the story of how John Wayne asked him how many days he was working on the film and I think Hopper told him he had 3 days. Wayne asked him “Could you use two weeks?” So everytime Hopper’s scene was to be shot Wayne would postpone it until Hopper made a little money.
He also said John Wayne told him if he’d hessitate more when speaking his lines he’d get more screen time. Hopper said “Yeah, John Wayne can do that. But Dennis Hopper will get fired.”
A great actor and a comedic actor with great timing. And a patriot!

I just read in the comment section that his estranged wife made a comment that he was not as sick as he appeared to be.....
It is too bad that in his last days he still had to be in battle with the wife...
He was one of my favorites.......RIP

Great role as the drunk dad in “Hoosiers.” “We’re gonna run the old picket fence on them.”

yeah, I saw that movie and it was on a date, of all things. We both agreed it was not a date movie. ha ha. Meanwhile, I still love the Roy Orbison song played in that movie. It is probably my favorite Orbison song of all time.
In dreams I walk with you
In dreams, I talk with you
In dreams you’re mine, all the time
We’re together, in dreams, in dreams...
