I understand from the census worker’s perspective what a pain in the ass this whole thing was. I understand clicking my heels that my part was finally over and the last 15 that I couldn’t get a hold of were given to someone else this week, and I am done done done.

Perhaps you could have called her back the first time she called, and perhaps you could instruct your minor daughter on the dangers of opening the door to strangers, there’s a lot of things that could be done. Do what you feel is best - but I think you could have prevented some of the “harassment” you feel you’ve received.

And I am done with this conversation - reply as much as you want, I’m done -

Why? Why not just answer the f*ing questions and let her get on with her work?

Lighten up Francis. Goofing on census works is fun. That's why.

One of the major revolutionary aims of George Washington and the Continental Congress was to get a good census taken.

The Brits were not really into that sort of thing preferring, instead, the "rotten borough" system, which they could get away with as long as there was no good accounting of people, places and things.

The guys with the Gadsden Flag were definitely pro-census.

Sniff Sniff. Do you smell this:

;-)

Check out this person's post in this thread alone. Manipulative. Accusatory. Defensive. Obnoxious. I wonder why.

Agreed. This thread was supposed to be fun/funny.

Anyone else have any fun ideas?

At the risk of repeating what I’ve said on similar threads, I too have been hounded to death after turning in my fully completed form as soon as I got it.

What is the deal? Why is this happening to everyone?

I would not cooperate with a second counting. I explained to about three different supervisors, who simply would not accept the fact that I had already responded.

They’ll believe whatever I tell them about the number of toilets, my income, my nationality - but they won’t believe I turned a form in already. Months ago as a matter of fact.

In Article I, Section 2, Part 3, that sentence ends in "in such Manner as they shall by Law direct." Congress has made such a direction and it is embodied in Title 13. You can't just pick and choose which words of the Constitution apply.

Yes, the Census people are getting the Enumeration for Apportionment but they are also collecting demographic information for the administration of other Laws passed by Congress, signed by the President and not declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. If you think Title 13 oversteps the Constitution, challenge it. Quite frankly if Congress and the Executive are going to administer laws where demographics are needed, I'd rather have them collect all the data in one fell swoop than conduct multiple operations or worse, make it up based on statistical gymnastics. If you don't like the laws, work to elect candidates who will correct or rescind them.

He probably doesn’t want to be double counted. That’s why I wouldn’t cooperate when they started camping at my door.

I sent my census form in late so I started getting notes on the door from the census people. Following the directions on the note, I made a phone call and gave the same information again, taking but a minute or two to do so. I wish that my frequent calls to troubleshoot my cable service were as brief or effective.

“one other thing, if the census received it after a certain date, that is why you’re on a list.”

I sent in the first form I got, within a couple of days. March, I believe.

No end to the harassment last month.

Don’t know what the poster you were talking with did, but I called three different supervisors three different times in response to the notes they leave on my door and explained the situation fully. I was very polite to each. They did not care and they would not leave me alone.

It doesn’t matter what I did to try to get them to leave me alone. This poster is convinced that I am ‘mean’ and ‘taking it out on the lowly worker’.

Once again this thread was supposed to be fun/funny.

Let’s have some more funny true stories and or ideas to answer in a funny way?

How about Race: Mutt/mongrel? OR mixed breed?

“Enumeration” means a counting or census. That was commonly understood at the time of the drafting and adoption of the Constitution — although that may no longer be true today.

Wrong. There is a large volume of constitutional studies that interpret this as a method. This is why the "living" document philosophy is so insidious. Would you Enumerate like they did 200 years ago or with technology from today? Why did our founding fathers use the term Enumeration versus Census?
