Well, that's what the marketing staff decided, anyway. It hasn't been that long since draw results were perfectly acceptable in the U.S.
Ever since we Americans introduced that concept into our youth league sports, we have tried to fob it off on other cultures. Sorry bud, that "everybody wins" stuff is American as baseball, Chevy, and apple pie.

Why is our football called football?
I mean the only time the foot is involved is when some foreigner comes on the field to kick a field goal yelling, “I’m gonna keeck a touchdown”, or to punt the ball.
Shouldn’t it be called “handball”, since most of the game revolves around throwing and catching or carrying the ball with your hands?
And in England if your team sucks, you get relegated, none of this share the revenue evenly stuff like the NFL.
And Aussies call American football “gridiron”.
