Tickets go on sale next week for Bob Dylan concert

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Bob Dylan's late summer performance has been confirmed and tickets go on sale next week for the Sept. 3 concert at Yakima County Stadium. John Mellencamp and a yet-to-be-announced third act will open the show.

"It's a huge, huge show for Yakima," said K.L. Wombacher, general manager of the Yakima Bears.

Dylan's and Mellencamp's websites had previously announced the stadium concert, but Bears officials were waiting to confirm the show.

Tickets are $55 and go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday, with a presale through Dylan's website beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Presale tickets are also available for Bears season ticket holders and sponsors beginning Wednesday.

Tickets are available through the Bears downtown office, by calling 877-435-9849 or online at www.ticketfly.com.

Not only does this mark the first time Dylan or Mellencamp has played Yakima, it's also the first concert to be held in Yakima County Stadium, Wombacher said. The Bears wrap up their regular season home games the night before.

"We've wanted to do concerts for some time now, and with these guys doing ballparks, it was a perfect fit," Wombacher said. "I've talked with other GMs in baseball that have hosted these concerts and they just said it's awesome."

Last summer Dylan, Mellencamp and Willie Nelson embarked on a 22-date outing that stretched coast to coast, but missed the Northwest.

Wombacher said he's been in talks with Jam Productions, the company putting on the show, for about four months.

"They wanted to come to the Northwest and they were looking at a few teams in our league," he said. "We were real interested in bringing this show to Yakima."

All tickets for the concert are general admission and Wombacher said he anticipates the stage being set up in deep center field.

"People can sit in the bleachers or watch from the field," he said.

The show will start at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Children 14 and under get in free with each adult ticket.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

I would gouge my eyes out, and cut my ears off before attending a Robert Allen Zimmerman concert.

They actually SELL tickets for Dylan and Mellencamp?

You'd have to pay me an awful large sum of money to sit through 3-4 hours of that crap.

I love Bob Dylan and have seen him twice in the last four years. Once with Willie Nelson and once with Mellencamp and Willie Nelson. Bob has a fantastic band, but as a performer he stinks. You can hardly tell what song he is singing because he sings like he’s in a coma and the arrangements hardly give away the melody of the song.

I found him worth seeing because he’s a legend, but out of the three Mellencamp (much to my surprise) is the much better show.

Boy, talk about a line up.

Next you'll tell me your a Cub fan.

I'd rather listen to nails on a chalk board than any one of them.

Even more so for Melonhead’s dribble.

we took our kids to dylan about four years ago. it
was awful. i did not realize he couldn’t sing at all.
i really felt it was a case of fraud, so buyer beware.
if you want to go to say you’ve seen him, fine. but
don’t expect to be pleasantly entertained.

Mellencamp’s stuff in the 80’s was fantastic. I would go if it was strictly those songs.

RE: WHY do people INSIST on supporting these unAmerican LIBERALS?

I could be wrong, but weren’t you a Romney backer over the last couple of years?

And by the way, Dylan has actually become pretty conservative in his politics.

Why does one talk like Cannibal Lectar or a retard in general?

Is this an open casket concert? I mean, isn’t he dead yet?

Yeah, I like him better in old recordings as well. Did you hear the Christmas album he put out last year? His version of "I'll be Home for Christmas" sounded more like threat than a promise of a joyful occasion...

It's Hannibal Lecter not "Cannibal Lectar. It is amusing that saying somebody has cancer would not be taken as a joke and yet, using another disease such as mental retarded as an insult is common among society, and many do not realize that it is very offensive and that there is something seriously wrong about it.

If you are going to insult me, at least be intelligent about it.
