YouTube acts Compete. Acts that were discovered by viewers on the popular website YouTube perform live in Hollywood, hoping to win their chance to compete alongside 16 others semifinalists for the $1 million prize and the title of the most talented act in America.

Jacqueline Marie "Jackie" Evancho (born April 9, 2000) is a young soprano from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Evancho was born to Michael and Lisa Evancho and has an older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister. She started singing when she was eight years old, after watching the movie Phantom of the Opera. Her mother heard Evancho singing songs from the movie and allowed her to enter a local talent contest just for fun. She finished as the runner-up and was voted the audience favorite. Eventually she participated in other talent contests and started a YouTube channel.

Evancho has performed onstage with producer David Foster, was an invited performer on the PBS Special "Celebrate America" with conductor/composer Tim Janis, sang the National Anthem at an event honoring aviation pioneer General Chuck Yeager, and has performed many times at the invitation of Pennsylvania Senator Jane Orie. Jackie also performs at numerous events and charity functions in and around her hometown.

Jackie Evancho sings in the "classical crossover" style of singers such as Hayley Westenra and Sarah Brightman. She studies singing with a voice coach, and also plays the violin and piano.

On November 1, 2009, Evancho released her debut album called Prelude to a Dream. The album features mainly covers of songs such as Andrea Bocelli's "Con Te Partiro" and "The Prayer", Josh Groban's "To Where You Are", Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel", and a cover of "Amazing Grace" among others. Schubert's "Ave Maria" heard on the album is not the original song, which is set to a secular text in German; instead, it's an arrangement of the Roman Catholic setting of the "Hail Mary" prayer in Latin.

"She is just truly blessed with a voice that's phenomenal," says classical-crossover composer/conductor Tim Janis, who is including Evancho in his American Christmas Carol show (Dec. 2, 2010) at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She will be the youngest female vocal soloist ever to have performed there.

America's Got Talent On August 10, 2010, on America's Got Talent, Evancho performed O Mio Babbino Caro by Giacomo Puccini. The aria is also on her debut album. She received a standing ovation after her performance, and was awarded a trip to Universal Studios in Florida for receiving the most fan votes from the submissions to the show from YouTube. She was then voted into the semifinals by viewers.

I kept thinking it could not be her voice coming out of her!
Then last night Howie asked her to sing a few notes
because so many people asked him if she was really
singing. She has been given such a gift!

Thanks for posting her background. Heard her sing on AGT and couldn’t believe that such a beautiful, mature sound could come out of such a little girl!

She has a great future ahead of her. Just hope too much stress isn’t placed upon her.

Wow. Her singing voice is that of a grown woman. Strange. She just needs her lings to catch up with her voice.

Amazing.

I saw both Jackie and the boy who played the piano (whose name escapes me at the moment). Both were fabulous. Amazing talents.

Yeh, he is good too. I actually LOVE his outfits and makeup.

My husband doesn't get the whole dressing up schtick, but I think it goes well, with what he does. And his makeup and dress are very elegant, as opposed to cheesy.

Notice how Opera seems to be big lately? What's up with that? I'm not one for Opera, but these guys spark my interest.

I agree. Not a big opera fan, but he makes it very interesting. I agree his outfits are pretty amazing. He’s quite an entertainer.

This girl is amazing... Just wow!

I could not believe that voice was coming out of that tiny little girl! When she spoke she sounded her age but when she sang - an angel! My two new gals to root for is Jackie and Susan Boyle. With such voices as theirs, why do we have to listen to packaged, no talent, scantly dressed, over rated female singer with little or no talent? Oh, well, that’s show biz, I guess. But Jackie was surely a treat and a great surprise.

If she is competing against Prince Poppycock, he’s lost the game. He’s good, but this is incredible.
