Science fiction has been a television staple for the past 60 years. And of the thousands of episodes that have been produced in that time, we've chosen 10 of the most memorable, transcendent hours of sci-fi TV -- the best the genre has to offer. As always, your mileage may vary, but if you wanted to show an alien civilization how we feel about our own tomorrow -- as well as how we view ourselves today -- these episodes are a good place to start.

From the old TV show “Thriller”, The Grim Reaper which starred a very young William Shatner.
When Enik discovers the sleestak aren't distant ancestors of his people, but instead they are his people's future!
Pretty intense for a supposedly kid's show
Today is the 44th anniversary of the first episode of Star Trek on TV
The salt vampire!! From “the man trap”
Freegards, don’t look directly into the nostrils...
I liked Space 1999’s New Adam New Eve when they come in contact with the Messianic figure.
“Home” was revolting enough that it may well be why I stopped watching X-Files. In any case, the episode can’t really be classified as sci-fi, so doesn’t belong on such a list. Similarly, as excellent as “Hush” was, Buffy was a horror show, not sci-fi. There definitely should have been a showing by Babylon 5, such as “No Surrender, No Retreat.” The scene where Londo implores G’Kar to bury the hatchet is one of the most powerful scenes I’ve ever seen on television.
"Home" was just plain nasty, IMHO. The Johnny Mathis thing was mildly humorous (my mom went to HS with Johnny Mathis, so I got a kick out of that).
My all-time favorite X-Files episode was "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space.'"
Oh yeah, “Inner Light” was an amazing episode. Easily up there with “Yesterday’s Enterprise.” However, better than those, by far, was “Best of Both Worlds” (part 1 at least). What a nail-biter!
I had forgotten about that one. I agree it was excellent.
Is that the one with the most famous comedic acting trio ever "Charles Nelson Reilly"? ;-)

For Next Generation, I think I would have put “The Inner Light” on the list instead of “Yesterday’s Enterprise”. As others have said, both SG-1 and Babylon 5 should be represented on that list. The Quantum Leap episode “Good Night, Dear Heart” should be a contender. I don’t count Buffy the Vampire Slayer as science fiction, unless you want to open the door to fantasy and superhero shows. I think Lost is iffy as science fiction and it had some excellent episodes but I’m not sure I would consider “The Constant” the best. My tastes are somewhat quirky so I’ll leave it at that.
They should have a 10 worst list.
Anybody remember that cheesy show, WOG?

I loved Inner Light, but Yesterdays Enterprise is my favorite for sure
Twilight Zone - “Hocus Pocus and Frisby”, where the aliens abduct the gas station attendant, who bragged about all of his inventions, and the aliens believed he was the world’s smartest man.
