He Raped Me By Magic: Woman Tells Court

A woman who was raped by an alleged sorcerer in Saudi Arabia is appealing for executing her rapist who was sentenced to six months in jail.

In a report from the eastern province of Qatif on Sunday, Saudi newspapers said the woman told court that she went to the man’s house and stripped off her clothes because she was under his magic spell.

The court sentenced the unidentified rapist to six months in prison and 50 lashes with the whip after it could not find evidence of rape.

“The man told court he had a relationship with the woman, who could not prove her charges that he is a sorcerer,” Shams daily said.

It quoted the woman, who it did not identify, as saying:”This man is a sorcerer…he made me go to his house and take my clothes off without realizing what I am doing…I affirm my demand for his execution.”

I'm thinking this is what is behind this story. She is trying to save her life. Maybe.

What? They could find no evidence of the alleged rape, yet they still sentenced him to 6 months and 50 lashes? WTF kind of justice is that?

Yes, I went to the link and checked - it is not a typo in the post here.

First it was kidnapped by a Genie... now there is rape by way of sorcery?

Wow... we need to send TAPS over to Saudi Arabia to investigate, STAT.

She might as well accuse him of sorcery. Those people believe anything. There the victims are killed and the rapists are set free so at least she’s saving her own skin.

“Those people believe anything.”

Yep. Just read another post, a bit ago, about a mosque that burned (darn!) but all the copies of the quran were untouched...

Another mohammedan miracle, no doubt... Sure to get a lot of play in the muslim world, I’d say.

it’s justice all about morals and self-righteous codes. It’s the seriousness of the charge, not the accuracy of the statement that matters!

Kind of like tossing a bound woman into a river. If she floats, she’s a witch, but if she sinks (and drowns) she was innocent.

You determine guilt or innocence by the way the accused deals with the punishment...

The Saudi standard is the idea that it is better that an innocent man be whipped than that a guilty man go free.

In Saudi, where they use Sharia Law, the purpose of the court is to fit a criminal to the crime, and a punishment follows in accordance with fixed standards.

Sharia law allows little discretion in sentencing.

That’s what got me. There’s no evidence of a crime being committed so let’s give the defendant 50 lashes and lock him up for six months as punishment for the nonexistent crime.

...and I was enchanted by a witch once. I picked her up hitchhiking one evening.

Next thing I know, she kissed me on the ear, and turned me into a motel.

That spell lasted all night, but wore off in the morning...but not before she, my wallet, and my watch had all disappeared.
