He was my favorite fake dad. My parents were divorced, and in a way, he helped raise me.

That’s very cool! (I like Mr. Rogers myself, for similar reasons.)

Rest in peace, Mr. C.

People Magazine reports that he had a staph infection.

I used to enjoy the Father Dowling Mysteries. The Nelson daughter was in it. R.I.P. That is 2.

It’s so weird, the other night I was watching Kolchak- the Night Stalker on netflix and he was in the one with the lizard eggs. I’m not going to even try and explain it, you’ll just have to watch it. lol Anyway, Tom was the clerk or whatever and I was wondering if he was still around but never got around to looking him up. Now I know.
I always loved the trash bag commercials in the 80’s when I was a little kid (giving my age away here...)
Very sad, he had a great voice...very soothing, like he could never get mad.lol RIP Tom, I’m gonna miss you, buddy! <3

For the first couple of years of the show it was the high-water mark of American Television. The American TV shows line-up would get no better following it, and would take a fast and deep slide into crap. There were some other individual shows that would pop up from time to time that were good like, Friends, Home Improvement, Sinfield, Cheers, but with the advent of multiple channels of cable and satellite, the magic of well written family TV shows was gone forever. Rest in Peace Mr. C

Probably because David Doyle, who looked a little bit like Tom Bosley, played Charlie Townsend’s assistant, John Bosley, on “Charlie’s Angels”.
