Thank you, Potlatch.

I enjoy posting the beautiful graphics by Billie and/or MamaBear.

Billie made today’s Opener and MamaBear made today’s Pledge graphic.

Billie, that graphic is beautiful,
And, the poem by Elizabeth Coatsworth
Brings in those coming frosty mornings so perfectly.

"The fires burn
And the kettles sing...."

Good afternoon, Yorkie. Thank you for that wonderful fall graphic.

I’ve had a very busy day. Computer problems are sporatic. In addition to trying to work around them, I’m reading all of the political stuff on FR and trying to watch/listen to Fox News.

I am so anxious about this election. I’m both excited and fearful. I’m looking forward to giving O an overwhelming message that we will not let him destroy our wonderful country. While being so optimistic, I am fearful that the corrupt dims have fraud working overtime.

There are so many important seats available. How will we get anything done tomorrow???

Thank you for the lovely Aspen tree, Yorkie. It and the Ginko both have the most beautiful gold leaves. The Aspen is especially pretty when the breeze rustles the leaves.

Hope you are having a great Election Eve.

WHEN THE FROST IS ON THE PUNKIN

That's such a fun poem!

Those first couple of lines grab my senses so much: The husky, rusty russel of the tossels of the corn,/And the raspin’ of the tangled leaves,

With such descriptions, how can a person not be there! Then your apples all is gethered, and the ones a feller keeps
Is poured around the celler-floor in red and yeller heaps;
And your cider-makin’ ‘s over

There are few sensations better than the sweetness of cider from my cousin's mill on a brisk autumn day...and then to bite into a crisp keeper!

and your wimmern-folks is through
With their mince and apple-butter

>sigh<

But to me, thoughts of such wimmern-folk are like dreams of the wooly mammoth. (I mean, "visions of something extinct"... If I want "big and hairy," there are plenty in the Womyns' Studies department at the local university!

When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock!

Have to re-arrange that for your pic, yorkie!

"When the punkin is the shock and the frost is on it!" :-)

ELECTION DAY!

I’ve been waiting two years for today. I voted the same this time as I did two years ago. I hope less folks vote opposite than did two years ago.

I know the Republicans are supposed to win big this time but “don’t count your chicks before they hatch or the race before it’s run. Remember, yes, remember long the Battle of Bull Run”.

Y’ALL GO VOTE! Unless you already have, of course.

HALLELUJAH! I voted early, last Tuesday so I could keep up with all the excitement today.

I feel like you do about counting our chickens!! I was telling a friend on the phone “that the media has built it up so high (of course the polls too)” that it may not be as good as we hope. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope all the polls will prove right!

I’m hungry...gotta fix breakfast now!

Neighborly Kindness
November 2, 2010

One of the major obstacles to show- ing compassion is making prejudgments about who we think is worthy of our compassion. Jesus told a parable to answer the question: “Who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:29). Or, who qualifies as worthy of our neighborly acts?

Jesus told of a man who traveled on the notoriously dangerous road from Jerusalem to Jericho. As he traveled, he fell among thieves and was robbed, beaten, and left for dead. Religious Jews (a priest and a Levite) passed him, but they walked by on the other side, probably for fear of being religiously defiled. But a Samaritan came along and had unconditional compassion on the wounded stranger.

Jesus’ audience would have gasped at this because Jews despised Samaritans. The Samaritan could have limited or qualified his compassion because the man was a Jew. But he did not limit his neighborly kindness to those he thought were worthy. Instead, he saw a human being in need and resolved to help him.

Are you limiting your kindness to the ones you deem worthy? As followers of Jesus, let us find ways to show neighborly kindness to all people, especially to those we have judged as unworthy.

How many lives shall I touch today?
How many neighbors will pass my way?
I can bless so many and help so much,
If I meet each one with a Christlike touch. —Jones

Our love for Christ is only as real as our love for our neighbor.

Read: Luke 10:25-37

A certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. —Luke 10:33

Thank you, Kitty. I love Autumn, too, but not crazy about all the leaves on the ground, even though most of our trees have very small leaves. We have one huge cottonwood that hasn’t started losing its leaves yet, and that one can cover a LOT of ground when its leaves fall!

Thank you, Amy. Sorry about your computer problems. This is NOT a good time to not be able to stay online. Hope it is fixed by this evening, when the votes start rolling in.

Here is a song I can't get out of my mind this morning! It is Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, singing to the Democrats, in an audience full of supporting Republicans, Conservatives, Independents and TEA PARTIERS!

Thank you for today's Perfect Opening.

I'm so excited about today but am afraid of being over-confident.

If everyone votes, we can sweep out the trash.

Have a lovely day ... I'm sure we will all be here tonight. LOL

Thanks again for all you do.

Prayers, too, of course for our beloved Republic this important day.

And prayers and hugs in your and Tia Pam’s behalf.
