With spectacular performances by Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld and Matt Damon, the visually stunning film has already claimed nominations from the Critics' Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild for categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Jeff Bridges) and Best Supporting Actress Hailee Steinfeld.

Steinfeld's talent nearly stole the show. Her breakthrough performance mirrors her role in the film, in which the young thespian holds her own against Bridges and Damon. She certainly is one to watch this award season and beyond for what looks like the beginning of a promising career.

The entire cast was truly flawless (though it is in the tradition of the Coen brothers productions where anyone would struggle to recall a scene with bad

I am no fan of Matt Damon, but I can certainly see Bridges pulling this one off.

At least Paris Hilton is no thespian, although she has dabbled in it a couple of times, she would like to be one though.

I usually love Cohen Movies (Fargo, Raising Airizona and O' Brother Where Art Thou are some of my Fav movies)

But this remake is bordering on heresy...

John Wayne IS "Rooster Cogburn"...

(and I am a Big Fan of Jeff Bridges!)

Well after reading the book at age 18 and then seeing the original film with John Wayne some 40 years ago, I guess I’ll have to check it out.

The entire cast are liberals. Jeff Bridges LOVES Obama and his old man was a communist. Keep supportin Hollywood and Obama.

Another example of no creativity in Hollywood. Another remake of a classic. I’m also a fan of Jeff Bridges’ work but why can’t Hollywood make some films that aren’t remakes? Yes I know they do make a lot of films that aren’t remakes but there just isn’t much in the way of creativity in that silly industry. Pathetic.

I enjoy films. Particularly the Coen Brothers. Their treatment of ‘No Country for Old Men’, ‘Fargo’, Miller's Crossing’ and ‘Blood Simple’ are amongst the finest films ever produced, and the visual artistry and camera work is nothing short of stunning. Look at a frame of the ‘Hudsucker Proxy’ or ‘Miller's Crossing’ and tell me if there is a team making better looking films.

I look forward to seeing this version of ‘True Grit’ Wayne will always be Rooster, but Bridges is a damn talented actor.

I am slightly to the right of Attila the Hun, but If I refused to see films, plays and musicians that were produced anything but conservatives, I would miss out on many of the finest things in life.

I balked when I heard there was a re-make of True Grit in the works. But then... finding out that it was the Coen brothers doing it, and I turned 180 degrees on the project. I think they can be trusted with it.

Then you will be able to cheer, as I did with Glen Campbell, when he dies in the movie.
