A thought has been lurking at the edges of my brain all week...here it is:

In the old Soviet Union, political dissidents were often classified as deranged mental patients and locked away.

In the present time, in this country, there seems to be a drive toward taking mentally ill people, and classifying them as politically motivated...

In both scenarios, the classifications are false, but fill a need of the ruling powers to control and intimidate.

If he had listened to Rush, attacks from the left would have been worse, of course. It’s a given that no matter what, the left will be be very ugly and demonize the right.
Am I naive in thinking that more people than usual understand the left’s tactics?

If the shooter was in the tea party, he certainly wouldn’t give Gabrielle Giffords the time of day, yet alone listen to her propaganda.

Yes, it's a setup, a lot like what they are doing to Sarah Palin, that would never work without the willing participation of the Lamestream Media.

What we need to do is point out a salient fact: Among the Left's sepcial interests, the Mental Health lobby is the only one advocating not treating mental illness as a public policy -- unless or until a crime is committed.

Deinstitutionalization since the 70's actually caused this event, with the ACLU and the Left leading the charge for NOT treating the mentally ill until it is too late.

If Laughner had gotten the treatment he needed, denied by the policies advocated by the Left (and shamefully seconded by the lazy, duplicitous Right), we wouldn't have to be defending anything...;-))
