They should also probably put a safety rail across the staircases, so angry people on mobility scooters don’t run at them in anger and fly down the stairs. This might make them harder to use for the regular folks, but we don’t want a lawsuit.
He got the shaft.
You are so right.
I can see all the lawyers lining up to sue the shopping center on the behalf of this idiot.
I wonder if John Edwards went over to Korea to help, and what is Obama going to do about this injustice?
i think so. first thing I would have done if i wanted to live is to reach my hands up and grasp for the doors or something as i realized I was going down. maybe i am being optimistic about my reflexes, though.
Darwin Alert!!!
“so that accident is never repeated”
This was not an accident. You can’t construct your way out of every aggressive action a person might take.
They have sleazy plaintiff lawyers there too, huh?
Beat me to it. Glad I browsed first.

Didn’t this incident happen a while ago? They made fun of it on the TV show Tosh.0 a few weeks ago. I believe the punchline was, “he proved he was handicapable of plunging to his death.”
Yea, I laughed....
Accidental suicide. I think he was mad that the woman didn’t hold the elevator for him. She saw him coming, and wisely shut the doors before he could enter—if he was as angry before he got to the elevator, it would show on his face—I wouldn’t want to share that little room for even a few seconds with an angry person on a power scooter.
There was an old man with a scooter that ran around my old neighborhood. He would cut people off and curse at them. Miserable old coot. He apparently cut off the wrong person one day and didn’t fair well with a 6000 lb. vehicle. No one missed him either.
I knew of a young man in a wheel chair that did the same thing. Huge attitude and very angry for his condition. One day he went across the street in his wheel chair and was killed by a car.
Anger kills.
When I was a kid I worked in a hotel that had a health spa. it was for guest, but for a buck the public could use it. We were always having to give this old guy the boot because he wouldn’t pay. He’d take an hour to leave. Once, twice a week. He used to run in all black, at night, way into the road and dare someone to hit him. Same thing, nasty, mean, cheap. He’d get hit/bumped and sue people. Finally he got hit and killed. Police ruled it wasn’t the drivers fault.
Years later I did work at his wifes house and she said she hated him too and was happy and had been ever since he got killed.
Simple solution.
OUTLAW motorized wheelchairs.
