How many people do you know who are sick? (Vanity)
Vanity | Feb. 18, 2011 | piytar

So how many people do you know who are sick with the latest round of cough/flu? And have been for weeks, if not months? About a third of my friends and family are. I was, but I catch just about everything - and then recover quickly thanks to an overactive immune system (which has problems of its own).

So let's go conspiracy theory here: Are we in the middle of a bio attack? After all, I cannot remember when this many people I know spread around the US and two continents were sick the same way this long. But decades of vaccinations - with antibody factors that may be passed down generationally - may be providing a defense.

So what happens when this bug goes global? Oh, wait, it has - it's just not being reported well.

Thoughts?

How many complaining about these symptoms on this thread take Vitamin D3?

Yes, how many of you who are or got sick take your proper dose of vitamin d3? Catching viruses is a symptom itself, of being deficient In vitamin d!

Remember to go get your d level tested with a blood test. You want to have a therapeutic dose, and to know what that is, you need to get tested a couple times until your supplementation gets your blood level of d3 above 60. That is the normal virus and cancer prevention level, if you have cancer or anything xhronic, you might want to be as high as 70 or 80. I actually have to take 15,000 units a day to get to 60. Even living in a sunny clime does not help me. But I don't catch anything any more. Go get tested. Not getting sick is worth it.

<><><><

Yes, but not the one you think. This is actually be caused by the doctors, who are afraid that Obamacare is going to ruin their income potential, so they are intentionally making people sick (how clever, some use the flu, some the stomach bug, some the lingering cough) so as to increase the number of insurance reimbursements and copays they get. The fact that they are using so many different types of ailments covers up the conspiracy.

level above 60? I thought 50 was the bottom.....but, I agree that taking high doses when you are sick is helpful. AND, getting tested should be a mandatory these days. People would probably save beaucoup dollars if they got tested and brought themselves up to appropriate levels.

Really commiserate that you have acquaintences there. I've seen enough of the former director Dr. Julie Goeberding (hell I don't know how it's spelled) to know something ain't right there. Wouldn't surprise me if she's still in charge as Zero's minion.

If she's not enough, how about those other 'doctors' that have perpetual studies of how guns, wife-beater T-shirts, et al are a 'health' problem. I don't even want to hear how CDC is this or that - I've seen e-effing-nuff already! I took one of their damned swine flu shots in the mid 70s and ended up with pleuresy, widespread pain, and other symptoms that persisted for DECADES! I'm not interested in any response to this. I know what I need to know2.

I'm going to respond, in direct contradiction to your demand.

I LIVE ON THE EDGE, BABY!

And, I respond in kind - although it wasn't a demand, just that I wasn't interested in hearing responses.

I have no quarter with you. However, I've lived long enough in the shadows of CDC and the publicity seeking efforts of (I'll grant you this) some of them to take advantage of prevailing liberally-urged forays into 'junk science' for the sake of funding to become painfully (really) aware of the drawbacks.

That said, I suggest that we both just enjoy the impending weekend. Good tidings, salutations and best wishes to you.

Now I'm on a Z-pack....and cough medicine with codeine...

The guy I mentioned that was the only one I knew who was sick with this took the Z-pack and cough medicine too..........

It's a virus despite it's severity to you and lesser severity in others and it will not be cured by drugs but rather your own body over time.

In years past I've taken the Z for the same ailment you have and since then when I contracted the same ailment and did not take the Z, there was absolutely no difference in the recovery period..........

Taking these Z-packs or whatever drugs will have absolutely no effect on your your ailment, they are viruses. The best thing for you to do is to take vitamins or whatever to help your body stay strong while it fights the virus.......

As for prescription cough syrups, yes, they work and help you get the needed sleep you need...........

As a side note and not a topic for discussion but rather an observation, I am a lifetime smoker and while I do have a minor chronic cough due to the habit, all the respiratory illnesses that have come thru over the past number of years that I have contracted have not affected me to the same extent that the people I know that contracted the same illness and do not smoke.

My own personal opinion is that my constant smoking has forced my immune system to work overtime and thus enable it to successfully fight the viruses which fly into town each year.......

I took a person with a sprain to the ER last night. There was only one patient in the wating room who appeared to have anything like an acute respiratory illness — all the others were obviously different kinds of medical situations. In fact, I tried to post a coment from there but it didn’t “take”.

2 bout's of...whatever...since Christmas. Before, 1-2 colds in 10 years.

However, with my new kitty(and the scars that came with it's sharp little claws)...could be cat scratch fever(no, not the Ted Nugent variety...the real thing).

Weird stuff though.

All due respect, that's your opinion...

I've been going to the same ENT for years and have tremendous respect for him...

..he doesn't prescribe antibiotics unless it's called for.

My D levels are low, so I take the Vitamin D3....
..but my resistance is down...(my doctor says) because my dad is in a dying state under hospice care....
..and I am constantly at the nursing home....

Yeah, I am so sorry. That is a very stressful situation so can affect your immune system. I’m sorry about your dad. Well, keep taking the D, add some c , and zinc if you have cold symptoms, because you still need to keep well while caring for him.

Actually, taking vitamin d once you are sick is shutting the barn door after the horse escaped. You need to be taking it all the time to prevent getting sick.

Well...yes...I take about 7000iu a day...but, if I got sick I wouldn’t hesitate to pump it up to 10,000iu...for a day or two (my level is finally around 53)

Mine is chronic sinusitis, but I also have body aches, cough that won’t quite go away, headache, and major stomach problems. My immune system is low though because of my thyroid cancer. My body is taking a lot longer than even my doctor expected to adjust to being thyroidless.
