Political Circus: Jerry Springer to Palin's rescue
CNN ^ | 2/25/11 | Ed Hornick

Washington (CNN) -- Politics is serious business, but not all the time.

Sar-ah! Sar-ah! Sar-ah!

Jerry Springer is known for a lot of things -- from being the former mayor of Cincinnati to ringmaster of an outlandish talk show where smackdowns are more common than humidity on South Beach.

Now Springer can add another title: FOS (friend of Sarah).

Well, sort of.

"I don't want her to be president," Springer told radio station WABC. "I don't agree with her views. But I would never say anything mean about her. I think she is incredibly charismatic. I think she takes her religion very seriously and her views very seriously. I don't think there's anything mean-spirited about her."

He should get her on his show. Beats Bawbaw Walters and Oprah, anyhow.

It could be a setup. Springer appeals to the lowbrow daytime crowd almost indistinguishable from Oprah and the Talk. No reason for any of them to diverge from their formula unless it is a setup. Think of it this way: if Springer advocates in favor of Palin for a while, and then does a reverse and begins to disparage her later, what does he lose? Nothing. What does he win? More publicity and more notoriety. And likely even more lowbrow viewers. Also Palin’s detractors could forever afterwards say that she is trying to appeal to her trailer trash by appearing on Springer and that proves it. They would only say this on highbrow shows which would otherwise lock out a neutral interview of Palin.

Jerry Springer made an innocuous comment stating that he respects Sarah Palin but doesn't agree with her or politics and doesn't want her to be president. O.K., he's entitled to his (predictable) opinion. Not satisfied with that, CNN has to make a snarky little comment that now, Jerry Springer is a 'Friend of Palin'. Probably hoping to somehow denigrate Palin by associating her with a guy known for being the host of a stupid TV show featuring the underbelly of U.S. society and passing it off as entertainment. Lame - but then, it came from CNN.

"He should get her on his show"

You should take a long walk on a short pier.

EWWW-WAH! If Palin were to appear on the Springer show.....she’d have to fumigate afterward. I’d be afraid of catching something on that set.

Don't you get tired of taking pot-shots at Sarah Palin while hiding behind the skirt folds of Michele Bachmann? Polutico didn't have a propaganda piece today?

I have to admit it is a nice strategy to pretend to be a Bachmann supporter while attacking Palin. You get to avoid the zot, at least for a while. You were able to salvage a shred of credibility, especially after your feelings about the right of women to vote and a female president was made public. Bachmann has a lesser chance of winning the nomination, so you win anyway.

I don’t pretend to like Bachmann. She’s a conservative. I have no reason not to like her. But I also like DeMint and Cain and Bolton. Any combination or those will suit me just fine. Palin has a liberal streak a mile wide. She’s McCain in a skirt.

Palin should go on Springer's new show 'Baggage' so that she can reveal her baggage to conservatives...

Democrat Springer, on a story from CNN, playing the "please don't throw me in the briar patch" routine concerning Sarah...the old, "I like her, but..." line. We've heard it a thousand times and it's still a load of crap.

An endorsement from springer is like a shot in the back...

Here's pissant's favorite graphic...

I mean, really, that’s not an endorsement. And I wouldn’t expect one, anyway. He’s a Democrat. He was a Democrat mayor of Cincinnati. I’d be shocked if he endorsed any Republican, let alone her. He’s just saying, look, she seems like a good, decent person and I have better things to do than crap on her just because I disagree with her on politics. Good for him.

Just wanted to show my support for you.
Palin is no role model for teenage girls. Now she’s putting her own political ambition ahead of raising a disabled child.
(Not much of a mother).
She’s been made a laughing stock by all of her opponents, and she’s already been on a losing ticket.

She can help rally the troops, but we don’t need her on the ticket.

What kind of “streak” do you have, posting hit-pieces on a regular basis from the likes of polutico and cnn, on FR. These are not even legitimate articles, but factually inacurate, blatant propaganda pieces from journOlista types. Ben Smith should give you a commission for posting his DNC attack pieces on FR, where normally it is not tolerated.

pissant is obsessed with hatred for Palin. Don’t bother asking any serious questions of the rodent he has no ability to answer direct questions. You’ll have better luck getting a straight answer from a Wisconsin Teachers Assn spokesperson.

Uh oh! The Anti-Palin crowd and now the “moralist” crowd have joined in unison. I remember when they (the moralist) said that Todd Palin wasn’t a real man but a wimp and was not doing his role as a father to his children.
