How is mp4 different from mp3 and what do I gotta do to my windows media player to make it play mp4?
No idea, but I’d love to have an MP5. ;)
MP4 is movies. MP3 is audio.
I think it makes your chair vibrate.
mp4 is apple quicktime media, you can download a codec pack to work on windows media player or download quicktime. search mp4 codecs for windows media player
Windows media doesn’t play Mp4, download Real player or itunes and they will not only play them but you can convert to Mp3.
Download VLC instead. Plays everything with built-in codecs. BUT if you still want to stick with WMP, download CCCP or K-LITE codec pack, open and make sure you you turn the WMP as your default player so K LITE will recognize it quickly.
Simply, MP4 is a file format such as AVI which is a multi-container format. MP4 is also my favorite format: de-facto container for H264 hi-definition H264 file format which is also used in Blu ray.
(what do I know..I work in Hollywood)
You’re going to have to convert them to play them on the Windows Media Player. They’ll play with Quicktime. I convert them to wmv. with the YouTube downloader application.
Search for and download the VLC media player, and you’re good to go. Also plays videos that your Windows Media Player can’t play.
Just download the free VLC player which is far superior to media player.
>>Windows media doesnt play Mp4, download Real player or itunes and they will not only play them but you can convert to Mp3.<<
Actually, I am SURE WMP plays MP4. I was able to tweak my WMP 8 to play MP4 by just going to the TOOLS option in WMP. I have the MP4 version of INCEPTION in 720P resolution that I play on WMP 7. WMP 9 is a different matter though.
The easiest way to get Windows to play MP4 is to switch to Quicktime.
Audio versus video.
this the same thing?
Mp4 is an AVI codec for video the DIVX player will play them or you can download codec pack for Windows
The media player should work after installing this.
Yes, try it. You’ll like it. Quicktime sucks.
I volunteer for an anime fansub and everyone knows/uses VLC, hands-down. Prefer MP4 for our subs because it is the de-facto technical format for MP4 used in network broadcasts. If the Freeper asked what MKV is, we’ll be on this thread for another day LOL
Real Player loads your computer with so many snoop tricks that it grinds to a halt.
Madman Poilitician with 4 Trillion dollars.
Hey Max, what’s MKV?
Oh, yeah - and more importantly, is it supported by LRF?
That's the long-winded techie version. The short version is it is a digital movie with sound.
YIKES!!! You can't be serious ... that 100% SpyWare and Take-Over-Your-Computer software is the bane of the computer world. It's a wonder they're still in business and pushing that POS still.
Every link to Real and/or RealNetworks has been BLOCKED/BANNED on every computer that I have .. I make a point of it whenever setting up a new machine.
There are other, safer ways of getting an MP4 to play, mainly by downloading and installing codecs (often free) for Windows Player ... as several have mentioned here already.
Avoid 'Real' like the miserable plague that it is!
/OK .. rant off :)
VLC rocks. It really can play just about everything.
Yup. Love it, without downloading the known codec packs such as K LITE or CCCP. I also have WMP and Media Player Classic. The 1 advantage of Media Player Classic above the rest of them is it’s the 1 which can make a screenshot of multiple scenes in the entire movie file. It matters in my line of work.
Ah, a fellow oldster huh Cripp?! Hell, I don’t even know what an MP anything is!!!.....But do I remember those knobs.. and Hi-Fi!!!! Reel to reel was neat also...
The short answer: mp3 is audio and can be played on numerous players and your pc. Mp4 is video with audio for movies, and can be played on players such as ipod that have video capabilities, or on your computer with itunes or quicktime software.
I am a computer hardware engineer, though this is not my area, I admit. Be that as it may, as I understand, MP4 requires iPad2, USB 3.0 and Windows 8 to run.
What you said. I hate REAL. I don't like Quicktime, either. Too hard to control. My PC is mine. I'll decide when something loads into memory, either at startup or whenever. I am kinda' hooked on WMP internet radio, though . . . .
BTW, Piriform's Ccleaner is a great tool for removing things from MSCONFIG, not just disabling. Why can't MS allow you to remove unwanted items from the startup? And it loads it's uninstall list about 10 times faster than MS Control Panel. Good for clearing out unwanted cookies and removing leftover registry items when installing a new video driver. And it's free.
there’s no windows 8 yet. We’re still on 7. 8 comes out later this year. But that’s not even the funny part, revolting! The funny part is the other day you told me you were in the sitcom/TV industry.
1. Are you logged in?
2. Get in the shower
For stopping Real (and other persistent pests), I use Startup Inspector (free) and ZoneLabs Security Suite (not so free)... Real is gonna try to download and install itself automatically sometimes thru some backdoor. ZoneLabs might not be able to prevent that install, so if it does do an install then Startup Inspector will prevent it from running, while Zone is set up to stop any and all I/O from RealNetworks and it's many variant URL's.
I've worked out a series of tweaks to both of these programs and when used in tandem have been *real* free from it's nonsense for several years now .... it's still sitting there as an installation, but if I happen to land on some pathetic website which still features embedded Real video it ain't going nowhere .. and I feel sorry for any website still using it, they just lost my online 'eyeballs' forever
I went to startup inspector for windows and read about it. it says its for these operating systems: Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP/NT
That’s no good for me. I’ve got vista.
Well, my sympathies that you have Vista (/shrugs) .. but otherwise Startup Inspector works great on XP and might even work on Vista too, all ya can do is try and if it doesn't work then just delete it.
I have a newer 64bit machine running Windows-7 but haven't tried to install Startup Inspector on it because there is no need to, as I use this machine for video production/editing exclusively and it only rarely gets access to the Internet, so no need to protect against the dreaded REAL
[BACK TO THE POLICE CAR]
JERRY: Nice shotgun.
JERRY: Clean as a whistle.
GEORGE: You could eat off that shotgun.
JERRY: What is that, a 12 gauge?
JERRY: 12 gauge. Seems to be the most popular gauge.
GEORGE: My favorite.
JERRY: Mine too, love the 12 gauge.
GEORGE: Makes the 11 gauge look like a cap pistol.
Damn, I have 7 but work makes me keep 32 because of the old DLL’s. (BTW 7 is good)
MP3 = Music
MP4 = Video
So, I wonder why iTunes is M4a?
There is something wrong with the arrangements backstage, like this miniature bread for instance .. I been working with this for about an hour and can’t figure how it works .. everything has to be folded and then it’s THIS(!) .....
