USA and even "rich" Norway display a ridiculous standard of living.

Why do Americans drive around in Fred Flintstone vehicles and what's the underlying problem behind the vast majority of Brits buying Fords and Vauxhalls year after year? Why does your tap water taste like sh*t and why don't Italians tear down buildings that no longer are in use?

What's the idea of building a house out of cardboard?

Denmark has the highest wages on Earth. Norway can compete. OK. But why is it that every time I visit our dear western neighbors I feel sorry for people driving wrecks instead of Volvo V70s?

Is the V70 a far too sophisticated vehicle for your marijuana-inflicted brains?

Get a grip.

Grow up.

You have a nation to run.

Please visit Sweden once in your lifetime and study how civilized people live and work.

In case you're healthy and normally furnished in the brain department there's no reason why you should not drive a nice Volvo/BMW/M-B/Audi/SAAB/Cadillac and own a nice home.

Feel free to criticise me.

Two words—nuclear f-—— weapons, OK? Russia, Germany, Romania - they can have all the democracy they want. They can have a democracy cakewalk right through the middle of Tiananmen Square and it won’t make a lick of difference, because we’ve got the bombs, OK? John Wayne’s not dead - he’s frozen! And when we find a cure for cancer, we’re gonna thaw out the Duke and he’s gonna be pretty pissed off. You know why? You ever taken a cold shower? Well, multiply that by 15 million times. That’s how pissed off the Duke’s gonna be.

Wife number one. From Trondddheimm. Her father use to come and visit. Didn’t speak a word of English. I did not speak Norwegian. But his favorite adventure was having me take him to the Liquor Barn where he just liked to walk around and look at the booze. It was like the Louvre of liquor. Now I like to have drink as well as the next fella. But those Scandinavians drink until it’s all gone or they pass out. What ever occures first. They look like us but they don’t think like us. I will not buy a car made by a socialist. That over the course of my lifetime has limited my options. She still lives here but is a raving lefty. I asked her why she didn’t move back to Norway. She said because they didn’t have garbage disposals.Spoken like a true American: give me convenience or give me death.
And they do make there own home-brew and drink in coffee.I’ll stop now....

In Sweden I’ve only visited Malmo but of all the cities in Europe I’ve visited it had the most US like ‘look and feel.’ The cars are decent but the hottest women in Europe IMHO are Maltese.

I love Sweden and have been there several times. It’s filled with hard working, friendly, decent people who love the outdoors (except Malmo). Half of my family came from Sweden. If I had to live somewhere other than the US, it might be Sweden, except in the winter.

But regarding Volvos, I used to drive a Volvo. I got rid of it as soon as I had to buy parts. Volvo is criminal in what they charge for parts. I now drive a different, similarly priced car. It’s a better car in almost every respect and the parts are much more reasonably priced. That’s why I don’t drive a Volvo.

On another point, drinking water. Where I live, it’s great. In Dallas, it sucks. Depends on what’s in the ground. That’s life.

And, in Sweden, you can’t spank your kids, home-school, or carry a gun. You can’t have a Pentecostal church—only Lutherans allowed—Sweden actually has an established church. We have to sneak missionaries into the country as students or something else!!

Those happen to be important things to this Pentecostal, homeschooling guy with a carry permit, who has been known to spank his kids, when necessary for their proper growth.

And, you don’t have the Rocky Mountains or Moab.

One thing Americans and Swedes share—we both think we’re a lot better than other people and that our country is much better than other countries. However, Americans don’t have a superiority complex about their cars :)

My neighborhood is clean and there’s no crime here either. I have a nice car and only want one TV. Thats because I’m smarter than you and have a life outside of TV. I don’t need to go ‘abroad’ because my state is bigger than your country. My country is bigger than your continent. I live where folks from your continent come to have a vacation.

When your wife goes out shopping on vacation she’s paying my taxes. Thank you, I appreciate it.

Mr Culture, if that is your real name, after you've inflicted ABBA on the rest of the unsuspecting world, do you think you can teach the rest of us something? We'd all rather be inside the failing nuclear reactors in Japan than listening to your perverted, torturous pop music!

He speaks as if televisions are some sort of status symbol. What’s a 50” run these days, four hundred bucks? Our poor have more and better televisions, lol.

“It is very unfortunate - Americans could learn a great deal about lifestyle from other nations - but they won’t. It’s too bad...”

Have you always been so ignorant and intolerant?

“Compare and contrast to european grocery stores. We win. Hands down. Lots of it, and lots of variety. 40 brands, sizes and types of canned tomatoes alone. Stores measured in acres, not square feet.”

I’m American. This is not true about Sweden and I’ve spent a lot of time there. They have grocery stores comparable to American stores. You are thinking other European countries. Their cars are too little, though.

He’s right in some ways. Sweden is MUCH nicer than other European countries and the people are great, although they get kind of insufferable when they tell you how good they are compared to America :) And they do. You just kind of have to accept that they are convinced that is true and that they have the right to say it to your face. It’s actually kind of cute.

Sweden has never had to deal with different cultures living together until very recently. Not nearly as challenging as what America bit off. In that regard, they are blowing it with the Muslims badly and it will ruin their country in the not too distant future.

I’ll stop now....

Dang, I was really enjoying what you had written!

BTW, there have been a number of studies that state the rate of alcoholism is inversely proportional to the amount of sunlight a country gets in a given year. Sweden does not get much. Drunk people often times are very pacified with what they have (I know someone will flame me on that statement.)

We visited Sweden last year. The people were robotic, the prices unreasonably high and the general attitude reflected people smoking up too much. Overall, while an interesting brief visit experience I wouldn’t live there for several reasons.
