I was not saying the math was incorrect, I was saying the percentage seemed way low

When you add up everything most people may be paying over 50% of their income in one form of tax or another

And dont forget- you are ALL paying 15% social security tax right off the top.

If you even try to say “NoooooooOOOOOOOooooo...your EMPLOYER pays 7.5% and you pay 7.5%” I will take away your conservative card and whack you with it.

YOU pay all of it, whether your employer gives you ‘his’ 7.5 percent first, or send it straight to the govt.

If you work for him and he paus you 100 dollars, you send 7.50 to the government and HE sends 7.50 to the government, for a total of $15 to the government.

That means it COSTS HIM $107.50 to pay you $100.

I would make no difference to the employer if he gave you the entire $107.50 and then YOU send $15 to the government.

YOU are paying 15 percent- the government just ‘fools’ you into thinking they are stickign it to your employer. (and many people are easily fooled)

So when you start with that premise, and add 10% sales tax- you are up to 25% already. And that is before Federal and State income taxes.
