If you’re even in Portland, be sure to check out their brewery/restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, although truth be told, I’m more of a Bridgeport Hop Czar IPA (7.5% alc) man myself. I saw the new Widmer IPA during lunch today and picked up a sixer.

Sadly, I’m living the High Life..... We are cutting back on everything for the next year to pay off our debts. If I could it would be Goose Island Honkers Ale.

I've had the pleasure of being in Munich for Oktoberfest (it's always in September, which I never quite figured out). Nonetheless, I cannot tell you how many gorgeous women I've seen in those giant "tents" dancing and singing while dressed in classic costumes that came straight out of a Teutonic wet dream... Ooompah pah.. oooom pah pah... prost!!!

Lazy Magnolia Pecan Brew from Kiln, Mississippi.

I always try to pick up a couple growlers of Magnolia's Gulf Porter when I see it.

We might have 5 different home brews at the tasting this weekend and 2 samples of a one-of cask ales from Lazy Magonila (Mississippi) and one sample of a cask ale from Red Brick (Atlanta).

Had some Chimay Red Cap Belgian Trappist Ale for the first time at my brother’s house. Excellent! But he bought it in Maryland. I have some Lagunitas IPA at home right now.

Oh man, that Lagunitas IPA is simply delicious.

I crafted my “house IPA” recipe using it as a base.

Thanks, now I want a beer :)

Cheers,

Got about 12 bottles left after my last hard cider batch.

But I might give it a break, and drink a Grolsch or two, as always, I can use the bottles!

Brew store charges $12.50 for 6 look-alike Grolsch bottles.
I can buy them FULL for $2.20 a pop, plus I get the beer, it’s a no-brainer.

Got to get to the brew store though. I MUST make a stout!!

Oh I know what you mean about the brewstore. I just dropped 500 bucks there. I now have 350 lbs of grain, lots of yeast and have already put it to use. I have 30 gallons chugging away in my shop.

It smells... interesting in there.

A combo of motor oil, paint and fermenting beer.

It smells like a mans shop should smell I say!

Cheers,

knewshound

Love that Moose Drool...but, at $2 a 12 oz. bottle here in Portland, Or., I save it for more special occasions(i.e.sunny days, clear nights, dry dirt, dead moss).

May have one of these this evening(its 0820 here now)

Goose Island Honkers Ale on draft, at the Lincoln Park brewpub, is one of the world’s finest beers. Find a way to get down there before InBev changes things. And have the potato chips.

That’s my favorite adult drink, Chimay. Try the Blue Label, you’ll never go back to the Red Label again.

All I have in the fridge is Stout...Guinness Extra Stout.

I hear that! I have an American amber and a kolsch (my first attempt) going now. Going to keg the amber and rack the kolsch to the secondary next Tuesday.

What’s your experience with kolsch? Do you give it much a lagering period? It will be in the primary and secondary at 60 degrees (wyeast 2565) and I had planned to go to 50 degrees (maybe 45) for 2 weeks in the keg, with no C02.
