Fairhope, Ala. (CN) - A police officer beat an elderly man who called 911 to report an accident and stop a drunken driver from leaving the scene of a crime, according to a complaint in Baldwin County Court.
Dorsey Henderson says he investigated an auto accident that happened across the street from his house. After determining that one of the drivers was belligerently intoxicated, he told the man not to leave and called the police.
When Officer Trent Scott arrived on the scene, Henderson tried to tell him what had happened and that he had put the driver under "citizen's arrest" because he was trying to leave. Officer Scott told Henderson there is "no such thing as citizen's arrest in Alabama," adding "get out of the way[,] old man."
While citizen's arrest is a gray area in Alabama, Henderson says he had "only been trying to help."
Nevertheless, Scott put him in an arm bar, tearing the man's rotator cuff, and walked him across the street.
When they were back in Henderson's driveway, Scott "slammed" the elderly man face first into the driveway, breaking his nose and his glasses. Scott "proceeded to beat" Henderson in "the back of the head, neck and arms." Scott did not arrest Henderson or charge him with any crime.
Henderson's wife, Dorris, watched from a wheelchair 18 feet away and called 911, saying that Scott was "beating the hell out of my husband." When the ambulance arrived, Scott sent it away, handcuffed the man and put him in the back of his patrol car.
Scott's superior showed up, released Henderson and called the ambulance back to treat Henderson and bring him to Thomas Hospital.
As of May 16, 2011, Officer Trent Scott was still employed by the Fairhope Police Department.
Henderson and his wife seek damages for constitutional violations. They are represented D. Keith Landers of Daphne, Ala.
If this PIG doesn’t go to prison for what he did then it is up to everyone in the state to know his name and place of residence, and the names and places of residence of his bosses and the DA who let him go. While we are all busy watching the Kabuki Theater in DC worrying about out “rights”, our own cities and states have been taken over by Naziesque thugs.
Their time will come.
I may be mistaken, but I thing Fairhope is full of retaired military.
I feel very sorry for the victim, Dorsey Henderson - and his wife who had to watch her husband be beaten and was helpless to stop it. I hope they receive a big, fat cash settlement from the town and just as important, that Officer Scott be fired for abusing his authority. If this man is 'Officer of the Month', that department is in serious trouble and more than one 'head should roll'. If the union protects him, shame on them and the citizens that allow this kind of corruption to exist in the police department they support with their tax dollars.

Naturally the cops have released their version of events. Naturally they blame the old man.

So if they are “vindicated” by the tapes, why are they seeking a settlement? The man’s lucky he AND his wife weren’t shot where they stood/sat.
Of that there is no doubt, everyone knows this except LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
There are no policemen anymore.
However, there would have to have been a 2-6 year old child as a secondary target of his rampage to secure him one of the higher paying positions with the feds...
In addition, he didn't use current correct police tactics when he failed to tase the old man into a heart attack once he had him on the ground...
Definitely needs further training...
I hope they break the city, if the city can't cover it, go after the state.
Cops need to be fired and put on trial.

I always get suspicious when they are only present for SOME crimes reported.

This cop should be blood tested for steroid use, as should most of the cops in these sorts of incidents. I bet there are a large percentage of these cases that are attributable to ‘roid rage.
I disagree. I think most cops are good cops, who try to do the right thing. This is not one of them. I hope Hendersons lawyer is a good one, and someone got this psycho cop on video. He should not only be fired, and sued for his last cent, he should be sent into the general population for his ptison sentence.
